Someone must know how, and it'd be great if we could work this one out. I;m talking about the pure white BG in list, and column views. I work mostly in Combustion (Mac), Avid DS (PC), XSI (PC) and they all have a lightly grey look to them, feels consistent when moving from one program to the other. Now that Panther has sorted out the default look, by introducing a more darkened theme, which suits me just fine, I really wish the Backgrounds could be darkened too, it gets a little too much on the eyes when working with video, and film.

Any ideas?

Try Path Finder. It lets you change the background color among other options. A new version was released yesterday.
