Modding iChat Balloons

I am trying to modify iChat's balloons but there is a stupid solid color bar still left. I tried looking at the .plist but no luck. Anyone know how I can change the color of the bar.

Why not just disable them if you don't like them?

I believe what you're experiencing comes from the message box color. Switch to Text and you should see that you have an orange BG for your text block. I tested with a different image in place of the balloon and it cuts up and stretches the image around an orange (or same color) text BG.
Find out how to change that and you're golden.
You might want to look around VT, there are some guys who know how to change those colors because there's a kit out that will make them any color you want.

There's really no way to make the bar invisible... as it is the same thing as the background color for Text Based (no balloon) chats. So if you set it to white, you have a white bar, etc.
