I changed my iTunes and iChat icons, but now when I try to change them back or use a different icon it won't paste. Any idea why? Also I can change my user icon either. I click on paste and nothing will happen. If I try to copy and paste the original icon to another app it works fine though. What gives?

Ok, now don't ask me the real reason why they do, but i know how to change them: (This is thanks to someone else, so don't thank me.)
I've had some problems with this too, it seems to be related to a file called 'Icon?' in the application package. You can delete this file, resetting the icon to the default by doing the following:
Open the terminal. Type 'cd ' the space is important! Drag the offending application onto the terminal - it's path will be pasted there. Making sure the terminal is the foreground app, press return.
Type 'ls' and press return. Confirm that there is a file called 'Icon?'
Get rid of this file by typing 'rm Icon?' and press return.
The application icon will now revert to the default, and you will be able to paste a new one in the get info panel right away.
Hope this helps, and sorry to whoever first wrote it.

Maybe this might help as well. Do a "get info" on the icon. Select the icon from the get info window and press backspace. This should bring back the icon to its original state. Then you should be able to change it again.

Usually you can only change any icon once per restart. If your icon get's stuck you just restart and you get another chance. Its infuriating, and it really makes you think long and hard before you change an icon.

I love the U.S., but we need some time apart.

Not for me. I sure wish though. My secret work-around is to duplicate the file, change the icon, and trash the original. Kinda stupid, but it's a stupid 'bug' to begin with so I think it's justified. Also, the bug isn't really that the icon can't be changed more than once... it's that the new icon isn't displayed once it's changed. If you can wait till the next restart you will see that the change really did take place... sortof a nice surprise actually.
