Yay! Thanks a lot. Just what Panther needed

Edit: Hmm. I surprise myself.. I had to put the striped resources back in there.. I actually like them in the Panther aqua. Weird..
Many of the Aqua elements in it are awful though, so this theme was a saviour indeed

Yeah, pretty much the same. But I will update AE too, keeping the flat inactive titlebar. But that will be later on.

Customize the installation before you hit install and choose either the Blue or Gloss Blue install option. Also uncheck the Traffic alternative. I suppose if you would check multiple Extras.rsrc, the last on the list will be the on that is actually used.

The same goes for iFix. If you customize the installation you canuse the Blue titlebar buttons

No, you can't edit the Extras.rsrc while it's in the pkg, as far as I know. You can however use the Root account and edit it, but it's nothing I recommend.

check me on this. i think you can just go to the extras.rsrc and drag it to the desktop. since youre not logged into root (id imagine anyway) it will copy the file as opposed to moving it.

great work bOOzo, as always!

Thanks max, the theme and the new iFix are great.

PS: the installer only works when your apps are located in the applications folder and not in a sub-folder...

I, too, decided that the new subtle stripes were worth keeping, but I salvaged just about everything else from SmoothStripes, including the Aqua Finder toolbar items (soo much nicer) and the progress bars (ah, I'd missed those). Max, if you want, I can send you the Extras.rsrc file I created and save you the trouble of merging everything together to make Aqua Extreme 10.3...
In other news, there seems to be a weird copying bug when using ThemePark... bits of system icons, like ThemePark's itself, get grafted into the clipboard somehow when copying elements from ThemePark, which causes much badness when you try to paste it back in. If you're lucky, ThemePark yells at you about it not being the right shape; if you're not, it gets overwritten with blank white space. Yuck. I ended up doing all of this in Sprocket instead (remember Sprocket?)

I noticed that too. It seems to present itself when resources are 8 pixels or less in width.

That's ok, I'm still in 10.2 as my main OS, so I wont have a problem using ThemePark.

I haven't had a chance to install the new theme yet, but I was wondering exactly we would go about uninstalling it if we so choose ? Is there an uninstaller with it or ?

Thanks,

It comes with an uninstaller package that resets everything to default.

They ( packages ) scare people. When they see one they know it alters OS X deep within.

Warning: Technical Crap Ahead
This is caused by a new bug in Panther's Cocoa imaging classes. When compositing an image onto another image when the destination image is less than 17 pixels wide, the origin of the destination's coordinate system is shifted to the right by half the destination image's width. This means that you get the left half of the source image in the right half of the destination, and junk in the left half. This also occurs when copying images using -[NSBitmapImageRep initWithFocusedRect:]

Fortunately, I managed to figure out a work-around. So, this is fixed in my development version which will be available to the teeming hordes "Real Soon Now™".

This took me three frickin' days to solve, by the way, making me wish that a certain fruit company we all hold near and dear would fix their own damn bugs.

End Technical Crap

Executive Summary: I know about it and it's fixed for next release.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Bad Apple! Bad! I guess there aren't many things using <17 pixel wide images or a ton of stuff would be broken.

I've been thinking about making a Safari skin like that, but it will have to wait.

That would require you to active the root account, log in as root. Search for Extras.rsrc, makes a copy of that file and an alias of the directory. Edit the Extras.rsrc with ThemePark, which right now is a hassle, and then save that. Copy the saved Extras.rsrc into the directory and move the old one out.
So I recommend that you wait until themepark is available for Panther and when the themes are distributed for a theme switcher so that it's easier to modify.

I did log out. I reapplied the theme again and rebooted which sort of seemed to work as
I had to apply demetalifizer to actually see the theme. The finder and safari were still metal without it.

Me happy now.

BTW BOOzo,

Thanks for the theme.

Where is it? Oh, you mean for yourself? I don't think that counts chief.

Please provide a link. I'd love to see it! I'm sure it's brilliant. I'm sure it's every bit as good as SmoothStripes. Heck, knowing how great you are I'm sure it's even better.

Put up or shut up.

Why is it you only come out to these forum to berate people?

You clearly have no idea what you are talking about.

update:

I had to log in as root to get the package to install correctly.
It just would not swap the files as admin.

I do have one question. Are the menus supposed to be transparent
in the default install? I saw the options for blue and gloss and decided
to go default.

thanks for all your hard work

Glad to hear you got it installed! I have the package authorization set to Root, but according to the documentation, an admin password will work with that too. So it's strange..

The Menus are supposed to be transparent. An Opaque version is possible in the next release though.

Been up for months.

Most people who want boozo's redone widgets and the like will probably prefer SmoothStripes. And that is fine.

I want to keep it the same, just without the stripes.

The reason why I never made such a BIG DEAL about it is, ANYONE can hack the stripes out of Panther really easily.

It's really not that big of a change.

I want consistency (Apple's buttons and such) minus the stripes.

I didn't post or make it to berate Max because he is doing a wonderful job.

His redone widgets look great.

But I like Apple's too.

So do you think this qualifies as a theme or just a tard-ish hack?

I guess what really matters is you made a theme for panther first!

...or did you?

I'd still qualify b00zo's SmoothStripes as the first REAL theme for Panther. Way more than just a hack anyone could have done. Just my opinion. Thanks for the effort though!

Hugs and kisses.

Good F-ing grief, its just a theme afterall. And any argument about who did what first is totally irrelevant when its regarding a product or service which is free; were it regarding something which is patent-able then the whodidwhatfirst issue is relevant.

Lets leave the "tag your it" games in the PM's.
