Hey Panther Lovers!
Since there's a lot of demand for the forthcoming Jaguar->Panther theme converter, I thought it'd be cool for me to post my progress on it here. I'll update this periodically over the weekend. I'm shooting for a release early this coming week, almost definitely before this Wednesday.
So, forthwith and forsooth, here's where da shiznats at, kool kats:
- ThemePark working fully in Panther ... done
- Updating infrastructure to handle things like this update ... done
- Push buttons ... done
- Edit text ... done
- Document window inactive state ... done
- Utility window inactive state ... done
- Round edit text (small) ... done
- Round edit text (mini) ... done
- Round edit text (large) ... done
- Async arrows (large) ... done
- Checkboxes (mini) ... done
- Radio buttons (mini) ... done
- Popup buttons (mini) ... done
- Push buttons (mini) ... done
- Combo boxes (mini) ... done
- Slider (mini) ... done
- Figuring out how to update the remaining elements ... in progress
- Up/Down arrow control (mini) ... done
- Arrow button (mini) ... done
- Tabs ... done
- Edit text frame ... done
- Segment control ... in progress
- Group box ...
- Toolbar selection well ...
- Dial ... done
- PPATs ...
- Menu dividers ... done
- MenuEnhancer compatibility ... in progress
- Ability to read DLTA and xscheme files directly ... in progress
Assuming that all of these items are equally weighted, this is currently 75.9% complete. But that equally weighted assumption isn't valid here because what's left is just "more of the same" and I've already figured out how to do most of what needs doing. But, a couple of the remaining categories are pretty huge, like Segment controls, Sliders and Tabs. Blah blah blah...
Anyway, hang tite, you'll see this beastie soon!

Well, the tabs are done! Only took me a straight 12 hour coding session with one quick 40 minute pizza break...
Here's a screenie of FlagShip running under Panther after having been converted by ThemePark (click for full-size):
A few more hours tomorrow should do the trick, so expect to see this amazingly-tedious-to-produce update maņana.
Love,
That Sleepy Guy

It must be love - why else would anybody spend countless hours toiling away for no pay just so us interface geeks have the tools we need to do what we do? I think it's time we collectively acknowleged Jason Harris (aka Smeger) as the patron saint of theming in OSX - without him we'd all be using inferior tools and crumping up our systems trying to get old themes to work on new systems. The man's a genius - if anybody is going to crack open the OS to a Kaleidoscopesque degree it will be this man.
So I'd like to say publicly, Thank You Jason Harris for all you've done to date and all you will help make possible as we plow into undiscovered territory in the months and years ahead - the love is mutual. Bravo!

Hmmmm. Is someone floating a balloon here?
Ye GODS I hope so!.
Thanks Smeger for making all the beautiful themes that Swiz, BBX and MAX and all the others create possible.
I think I may give this themeing thing another try. Last time I tried (SlickMetal X) I just about pulled all my hair out.

Michael: Hasn't everything been sort of discovered now by like Magellan and Cortez?
Buster: Oh, yeah yeah, those guys did a pretty good job.

Shucks, I feel all warm & fuzzy.
Thanks for the nice words, all'y'all!
I'm tightening up a few loose ends right now. You should be seeing this behemoth today.
For those who like statistics, this update consists of 4066 lines of new code, 5014 lines of new data file, totalling 147,692 new characters 277,514 new characters typed in the past five days by my glad-I-play-drums-or-I'd-have-carpal fingers.
Course, I'm not done coding it yet, so the final total will probably be a bit higher! And, of course, large swathes were copy/paste, but still...
Gawdam.

Thank you Jason.
I don't have the artistic skill to pull of a theme but I appreciate the hard work you've undertaken in providing the tools that let the artists do what they do best so that I may enjoy the end result.
Thanks to everybody in the theme community, you really are a special breed of people. You take on a good deal of burden to turn what your mind's eye sees into something that can be enjoyed by all.
Perhaps more importantly than that you're not doing it for financial gain so much as you want to bring a dream into reality.
Too many things today are done solely for money and I just don't care for that. Yes, people need money to survive but for too many people nothing is worth doing if it doesn't profit them in some way.
Those of you making themes, desktops, icons, programming apps or whatever and giving that work away for people to enjoy; you are true artists and the world is a better place because of you.
Thank you so much for being who you are.

From the instructions on that thread it says you have to install a theme on jaguar first, then save it , then convert it, then user it on Panther. Too much. I'll just wait for the full version, sinc eI don't even have jaguar anymore.

Theme Fur wouldn't have worked well for the Jaguar->Panther transition because a lot of widgets have new states within the pxm# resource. So I folded the functionality into ThemePark, where it belongs.

Keep up the awesome work! I would never make themes if it wasnt for ThemePark. I'm so swamped for time these days with full time work, full time school, and full time obstacles.
I was worried about updating FlagShip (as well as my new, unreleased theme) for Panther, but it looks like I can just relax.
Thanks again for you excellent work. I'm really excited.

Well, since FlagShip is the theme I used to test the updater, you're probably in pretty good shape.
