So I love Panther. Yes I like the new look. I do like the finder window idea but I really hate the metal look around it. ( I don't mind it in the iApps). So what would be the best way to turn it off or change it to normal window look ?
Anyone ?

Ya you can say that again, it makes them into normal windows.
whiteout is just a hack that removes the metal texture and fills the window with a solid white. Finder will still be "metal" but with no texture.

does metalifizer change EVERY metal app into an aqua app? or can it do just the finder?
I want to drop the brushed aluminun look on the finder ONLY. every other app I want to stay as it is by default.
kent
EDIT: ah, never mind. I figured it out and the answer is yes. All Hail Metallifizer! :-) What a great app.

How were you able to get metallifizer to select the finder.
It doesn't seem to work for me.
I downloaded the latest APE and the latest Metallifizer and have had no luck.
I go to add Finder to the list and I can't select the application.

There is a metallifizer beta floating around here, do a search and youll find the link. It will allow you to select the Finder.

Actually...
The version downloaded from this location:
http://www.unsanity.com/download.php...t=metallifizer
Doesn't let you access or add the Finder. Therefore it cannot be metallifized. This is the version most people are using.
However, it's now been brought to my attention that there is a newer version that has been released in Unsanity's forums/news that contains a beta/alpha version of Metallifizer.
http://www.unsanity.net/beta/metallifizer-13a1.zip
This above noted version works. And does allow you to add the Finder application.

Hi,
I'm not sure where you're at so I'll go over my steps:
First thing, install the APE Manager from Unsanity. Restart, or logout...
Download the "Metallifizer" file from the link above. You should get a folder with a file "Metallifizer.ape" and another folder "_MACOSX" or something with a duplicate file. Ignore the folder and copy the "Metallifizer.ape" to:
"Users/Your Account/Library/Application Enhancers/"
If you don't have the directory "Application Enhancers" make one.
Open up your System Prefs. There should be a pane called APE Manager. One the left you'll see a selection item "Metallifizer". Click it. You should an item "Global Settings" and next to it a pulldown menu that says "Demetallifize", and next to that "Add". Click the Add button and navigate to "Computer/System/Library/CoreServices/Finder"...
here's a tease :-)
