It's just a less ugly version of the default XP theme. I don't think it would be worth porting to Mac.

Jonmega is a big idiot, he steals icons from talented mac designers ( xicons, mix the pix, matthew bice, ... ) and converts them into windows icons, without the permission or even mentioning the name of the original designers...

That's true, I still haven't seen a theme that looks as good as the good ones on OS X. Even the ports of the OS X themes don't look as good.

I think 'no talent' is very unfair and a bit of a sweeping generalisation. There are some very good, very original XP themes out there, although why some persist in imitating Mac desktops is beyond me.

Yeah, if you take a look through the themes available on www.wincustomize.net you will see the situation is pretty similar to the old days of Kaleidoscope. A few really really good themes swimming in a sea of mediocre and really bad ones. It's easy to miss the good ones like that.

nah after being a huge fan of the windows customization scene for a good few years till i got a mac, then i feel its safe to say all the decent talent is long gone. Everything these days either looks like an osx ripoff, xp rip off or some other commercial interface rip off

Sorry to derail this thread, about the original post; I don't see what's so special about this theme he changed some colors but only made minimal changes to the buttons or any of the other interface elements. I like the colors he used but I'm afraid that's about it, it's really not that hard to change some colors in themepark, the buttons and the other interface elements are a lot more challenging. I'm sure someone could make a similar OSX theme in a few hours...

Still not my thing. I think the quarts rendering in OS X also helps the look of themes.

i am a pretty big fan of watercolor for osx and i do think there are some good themes on windows that would also look good on OS X

these are my desktops

Those look WAY too "office-y" for me. If I wanted a plain blue and grey theme I'd use Windows 95.

I know you can use the "classic" style windows in XP, and in my opinion those pics looked very similar.

Hmm, these themes look completely different from Windows 95, actually the first thing I did when I got XP was change the theme so it looked more like windows 2000 and less like XP. IMO 2000 has the best user interface of all windows versions...

I really like the last one, it looks like a mix between chosenOS and watercolor, not that I want to imply that it is a rip off....

I don't care for any of those Windows themes shown here, most have horrible or boring color selection and they're all far too flat and derivative.

What's with messing with title bar shapes? It's like they're doing it just because they can, not because it adds anything to the design.

I've always liked Enlightenment's Blue Steel Theme

But that's just me :-)

That is exactly what I meant when I said they look "office-y" or like win 95.

Ya I really like watercolor too. Not sure about those themes though... But the ports to OS X seem to look really good most of the time.

Yuck. Please keep those yucky windows themes away from my mac!

They look like really bad GTK+ 1.x themes for X11. I much prefer the original themes that are coming out for OS X from the very talented mac-using folks.

i shall insult some things on macos if it would make you feel better? Making stupid assumptions like that make you look more retarded.

"Uh, that's the official k10k MSStyle, actually. The author had gotten permission to make it..."
I don't care if its official, its k10k's visual branding so all credit should go to them, nothing to do with the themer any old gimp could throw something like that together.

Making themes is easy anyone that takes the time to do it and do it correctly port or not deserves absolutely no credit.

If I give you a windows theme could you port it to OS X? You're a gimp it seems like your kind of ballgame.

hmm was that theme in question on osx? SHOCK HORROR IT WASNT! It is much easier to make windows themes I have done them many many times in the past for personal use and you know what I'll do you all a lovely osx theme over xmas if i can get my portfolio out of the way soon enough and then you shall eat your words. Although it would be something much more original than just bevels shadows and gradients.

You are such a loser. Make a theme first, then spout your mouth, not the reverse. I'm willing to bet you have no talent at all. Those are usually the types who throw around insults as easily as you do.

dated back in late 2003, this old thread was started by someone who wanted a port of an ugly theme, to the beautiful mac osx. the wise themers and other osx users, laughed and poked fun at him. nobody ever ported it, to anyone's knowledge and the osx users liked it that way.

on osx we need more flat theme, squared theme, with squared widgets and without textures.
I don't skin my system to make it funky. I skin it to make it more usable than with aqua. If i had skills to do a theme, i would port SHADED to OSX..

ps : you are register to a macGUI forum. It's natural to always ear about mac themes ported to windows. You never look at originals WindowsBlind themes...
