What is this dotted crap around some windows in my Panther theme. I saw it in someone else's screenshot once. Stuff like this is starting to drive me crazy!

|

I love the U.S., but we need some time apart.

The theme I am putting together doesn't have it, so whatever it is I took care of it already. Did you already change all the resources in backgrounds? What about the window placard edge lines?

Its a bug with the alpha of Metallifizer; so it is theme independent, it affects any theme that uses it. Merely a temporary glitch till the final is released.

I'm not sure if it's Metallifizer because I had that on my first themefur ports to Panther before Metallifizer was out. I'll do some testing and make sure.

Yeah, I don't think I have Metallifizer running at all either. It's in my inactive AppEnhancer folder and the box is unchecked in the SysPref.

The "dotted crap" is showing up in the "Open/Save" dialogues in carbon apps.
Some........... not all.

When I posted earlier I checked the connect to server dialog as in your picture, but I still haven't seen it anywhere in anything.

mrtew: did you also mess with porting themes before the new ThemePark was out? That could be part of it... but then again I ran aqua restore themes since and that should have fixed anything from my themefur ports. Any other ideas?

It has to do with the LAYO and TDAT resources. If you copy all of those resources from a original 10.3 Extras.rsrc into your Extras.rsrc, it should be fine.

I thought smeg said that his update to 10.3 compatibility feature of TP included modifying the tdat code so that the MenuEnhancer elements work properly in Carbon and Cocoa apps. If you were to overwrite this tdat file with the original one again would the MenuEnhancer elements not work again?

I know that Smeger has been working with Menu Enhancer, but I'm not sure if it's updated otherwise.
On that topic, Menu Enhancer should not be used under Panther. I tried it using ThemePark. One small problem is that Round Text Fields lose their borders. One BIG problem is that an application will CRASH if it wants to bring up the new panther save dialog. I tried this with my Aluminum Alloy theme and each time I wanted to Save as… in Photoshop, it crashed. So I think we need to wait for ButtOsigh to update it manually, because it's not safe to use the it now.
Besides, MrTew migth not have used ThemePark to update his theme. But I'm it will get fixed if the Layo and Tdat is copied into the Extras.rsrc.

I guess I sorta mis-spoke here. If your "tpark" file has an invisible flag indicating that it uses MenuEnhancer, the generated theme will have the correct tdat resources. But this invisible flag is only present if you're using the version of ThemePark sitting on my hard drive or if you've imported the theme from a dlta resource, which is a feature I haven't yet written.
So right now, there's no built-in, publicly-available way of maintaining MenuEnhancer stuff when you update a theme for Panther.
For the record, you can't just copy the tdats and layos from a Jaguar to a Panther theme. Panther has lots of new layo resources, and lots of the existing ones have changed dramatically.
Likewise, if you copy over the tdats, Carbon apps will crash because they'll be unable to find certain references.

I had the same thing when I installed ss studio pro and decided to got back to Max's soothstripes. I never had a prob with max's theme. Is there a major difference between the two? Is it because of the installer versus themechanger? Or is it becase maybe smoothstripes doesn't changes as amny elements?
Max - ideas? Anyone?

I think it's because Smooth Stripes is just a bit different from Aqua, and or Max really knows what he's doing.
So what's the best fix for this problem?

Yeah, what's the best fix for this problem? My theme is all done except for this and I don't want to release it in this condition! You don't see it very often, but it's obvious that there is something terribly wrong when you do. I need a little better clue here if anyone has one. Please?

It might be something that is overlooked in the ThemePark updater. MrTew - if you send your Extras.rsrc to me I'll take a look at it.

COOL! I would love it if you (or anyone) can find what's wrong with it! And while your at it try and find this white fill. I can't find it either! :-]

I found out what the problem is. It was not related to the Layo or Tdat. These PXMs:
2324
2325
2326
13138
13139
13140
13141
13142
13143
called "Edit Text/List Box Frame…"
…have been changed in Panther. They now have 5 states instead of 3 like they used to in Jaguar. The two new states are a thin frame, active and inactive and it's used in the Connect To Server dialog like Mr Tew showed us.
I will notify Smeger about this so that ThemePark automatically ads the new states.
To fix it copy these 9 PXMs from a fresh Extras.rsrc using Resorcerer into your Extras.rsrc.
I uploaded the fixed Extras.rsrc here.
The other problem you have with the gray background is caused by the pxm TabBoxOpaque. The fifth state of that PXM is the fill. You can copy the whole image and make it darker.
Btw.. Apple messed up the states 2,4,5,6,8 - they all have slightly blurred edges. That is pretty visible in Mr Tews image.

Good work as always Max. I don't have Resorcerer so I'll wait for swiz to update his updates.

Whoops, the released version of ThemePark actually tried to create those new pxm# states, but there was a bug in the code - it was trying to read from the old location in the "tpark" file, but the images had already been moved to a new location, so they weren't being updated.
I've fixed this issue and a few other pxm#s that had the wrong number of states.

Does anyone know where this white frame near the bottom of various open/save dialogue windows can be found? I can't find it anywhere!

The frame itself is either Sec Group Box or Tab Box Opaque. The top of the fill is either PXM 5800 "GroupBoxOpaqueFill" or PXM 5810 "SecGroupBoxOpaqueFill". Those are not included in the template so far I think, so you'll have to edit the Extras.rsrc.
