Try typing this in the terminal:

defaults write com.apple.dock wvous-floater -bool true; killall Dock

Voila, there's your little exposé blob! Click to do within app exposé, option click to do global exposé, drag it around to your pleasure.

Now, let's get to work theming this! (Image files are located in the Dock resource folder, under the names "wvousfloat.png" and "wvousfloatselected.png".

That shows visible indicators of assigned sleep and exposé corners.

defaults write com.apple.dock wvous-olddesktop -bool false; killall Dock

That enables a cool alternate hide to desktop exposé where the active apps shrink to a little mini pager window.

I haven't tried modding this yet myself, but from mac os x hints discussion, it appears completely moddable. (Any size image, png I guess).
