I have a theme I'm working on, looking for some feedback. I'm not trying to make anything too groundbreaking here, I just wanted to finally finish a theme, and this was really the only design I had that wasn't blue or grey based, which a lot of people complain about there being too many of. As of right now the name I'm going with is Creamsicle, but if anything better arises it can change. There's a lot of aqua left still, but this is what I have so far.

Be gentle...

Not diggin the flatness of the theme. Maybe add a subtle bevel or gradient.

I like it a lot.
I like the flatness.

Orange isn't my favorite color. But that's the color of creame ciscles? Ya.. i know.

Why not just a variety popsicle pack?

Banana, Raspberry and That windex blue color would be awesome.

Orange, white and black are cool and the flatness makes a nice change.
The GoldenDelicious theme was to 'jelly like' and the light orange text didn't work as well as your white It had to many shades IMHO. Keep the just the 3 solid colours and it should look really clean.

What are the plans for the Widgets and the title bar?

Oh yeah, I remember that. But I think the main reason it got criticized so much was because of the aqua elements left with only a color change. And the reason for not doing the popsicle variety box; that's a lot more f cking work. I too like the flatness, but it's not going to stay that flat when it's done, but it will be a more flat theme.

Thanks so far.

This is the widget mouse over. The image above is linked to a full screen shot.

I haven't done the toolbar button or the Finder Buttons yet.

I could consider some color variations if the theme goes over well and if I can go through with it. Thanks for the support!

I think the thing is you've got to chose a color theme that people are actually going to want to use. In most cases it's a usability issue, if it's too bight or obnoxious it's going to be annoying to look at when you're working or worst of all doing graphics, next is the taste in color and if it's a popular color or not.

I personally would never use it in my life with it's super bright color and flat design... on the other hand it could turn into a cool Wired magazine cutting edge pop-culture look. It all depends on how it's executed. If it turns into a Wired mag look I might like it.

I find the first screenshot super appealing, but the second is a little overpowering in the orange. I think the reason screenshot 1 looks so good is the tight balance between orange and white with orange limited to relatively narrow bands (menubar, selected menu item)... the metal window in screenshot 2 is just too much orange in too vast a region - one alternatibe is exporing incorporating the orange in a graphical manner somehow to the bevels of your metal window while leaving the main body of it primarily white (ie. a narrow band of orange that runs down the left and right sides of the metal window about the width of the menubar). Orange white and black in flat graphic style is a very powerful combo - just need to find that perfect balance... if you limit your orange to narrow bands and controls it could work really well.

i love its flatness. its very minimalistic, and i really love those kind of themes that are just out of your way. it would be awesome to just have a few orange colored things that are really big so you could just open it in ThemePark and just change the orange to whatever color you wanted.

How did you make the finder solid orange like that? I thought the finder metal was always grayscale! I love the orange and the flatness, but I'm not sure if I could use it either. How about that apple-lime green that is so popular these days everywhere!

I love the U.S., but we need some time apart.

That's not the metal texture, it's using Metallifizer. I played with changing the metal texture, but the only thing I liked it as (seeing how Finder made it grayscale and ugly) was solid white, but I was also trying to get as much white system text as I could, which didn't work with white metal. That green does look good too. I may take the advice of toning down the amount of orange in it, because after seeing that green mockup I wouldn't mind making it easier on myself to make variations. But too many colors would make the name not apply anymore, and I was kinda proud of thinking of that and shaping the theme after it. Oh well, maybe I'll rename it Kool-Aid and do my favorite flavors. My main reason for choosing such an intense orange was that me and my girlfriend of 4 years just broke up, and with all that bright orange flying by me as I tested updated versions made me feel a bit happier.
