Back in the days of Kaleidoscope a man named Shurey made a set of schemes based off of the iMac case design. I loved the Strawberry variation as I had a srawberry iMac. Well as there is a severe lack of OSX themes that use a lot of pink in them, here is my attempt at bringing the scheme to OSX. Now I could not get a response from Shurey so I don't know if I can release it to the public or not. But anyway here is my progress on my first theme.

Here is Shurey's original: iMac Strawberry by Shurey

Here is my progress thus far: Strawberry iMac OSX

And the widgets rollover: widgets

Now I would love some feedback, suggestions, help, etc. Yes, it will remain pink, so don't bother to tell me how it needs to be blue or green or whatever. Pink is it. But any other suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

Off topic but with a name that includes "Slayer" (one of my favorite bands) I so expected something not pink LOL.
Congratulations on getting to work though.

Wow. Thats very... strawberry. I actually have one of those iMacs. Too bright for everyday use though.

Those cows won't know what hit 'em. They won't know what hit them even after it hits them, because they're cows.

People's tastes differ. I'm sure that there are people out there who will love this theme and thank you for taking the time to develop it.

Good work!

The pink metal is a tad bright. I'm still playing with exactly how I want it to look. Might also tone down the contrast of the stripes too. It is definitely a work in progress.

The iconset is iconfactory's latest TiMetal I believe

Slayer one of your favorite bands? Man...there is no end to your coolness !

Concerning the pink theme. I have been asking for a pink theme for some time now because I know my girlfriend would like it. I would rather see a lighter pink though.

Other than that....great job.

I guess now that you all are all pro-Slayer the band it might be a bad time to mention that my username is contrived from my fandom of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

That would explain the pink.

I remember a while back there were wome requests for a Pink theme so you have a target audience around here somewhere.

I;m glad there is at least a small amount of interest in this theme.

My main question now is, would it be ethical for me to release it to the public without the permission of Shurey since I never heard from him? I would of course give credit to him for the original idea, but what do you guys think?

I think as long as you've made an honest effort to contact him, there's nothing wrong with releasing it..you can always include a reference to his theme in the docs

Yes pink is good.. My girlfriend (even though I told her no) still asks about a pink theme everytime she see's that I changed my theme.

So Please please... and now that we have SS I will be able to log in with my theme and her with hers.

All I would ask for is not as strawberry.. It seems a tad too red to me.. I would go more towards a lighter shade of pink. but that's my two cents.. Have fun. I'll (Hmmm she) will be using it...

Just a small update note, I have started over again as I learned a lot just messing around with the stuff that madeup the preview I showed you. I have changed several things and made many elements from scratch, and made the brushed metal a lighter paler pink that is easier on the eyes. I would say I am about 50% finished.

I bet you all thought I forgot about or ditched this theme, eh? Well nope, not I said the duck. I have actually been working on various renditions of it over and over and finally got something I am happy with. I had to install the original theme on my old iMac and take lots and lots and lots (and I do mean lots!) of screenshots of every single window, widget, control, button, menu, popup, slider, and progress bar that I could muster. Then I gave Max's Classic Platinum theme some heavy inspecting - figuring out how he translated Classic to OSX. I figured since this theme was meant to strongly coincide with many Classic elements, I should see how the master did it. And so I set out pxm by pxm redrawing everything. I also took a lot of screenshots of the original Platinum on OS9 and even some System 7 shots (hence the titlebar widgets) and found something I am really happy with. All I have left on this theme is the tabs and oh phooey tyhe name escapes me. The things that replaced tabs in 10.3. SGEMENTS! That's it! Yeah, so the segments are a biotch and a half, but after those are done I will have my first real complete theme.

So....

want a screenshot?

Sure you do.

The only difference between the graphite and aqua variations right now is that the graphite version has scrollbars that are the same color as the scroll arrows instead of the pale yellow. but once i get this initial release out, I might have the graphite version have platinum-esque titlebar widgets and any suggestions are welcome for anything else.

Maybe I will do a blue version of this afterward. *faints* But I shall see how this is received once I release it. So for now, look at the screenie, and if you wanna beta test, PM me and id love for someone to point out things i may have missed.
