I have created a new SS guiKit theme: Ruby.
It is a simple theme that exchanges Aqua widgets with Ruby ones (with minor variations). Graphite widgets are left unchanged (for those who don't want so much red in their lives!). The backgrounds are a medium gray. Finder metal is replaced with a soothing aluminum finish.
Here's the webpage (in case you want to see a picture before downloading):

Here's a direct download (308Kb zipped file):

I would appreciate any comments or suggestions you might have.

DWS - you are a rude boy !
It's as rude as Cyber thief's pomegranate
theme - perhaps even ruder.

I'm not sure I'd call the theme rude, but you DO have to like many shades of red to like the theme!

Sorta cool. Reminds me a lot of the very first OSX 10.0 theme I ever installed. It was called Unlined Ruby and inspired me to make my first them call Unlined Grape. Those were simpler times.

I love the U.S., but we need some time apart.

Thanks for the compliment. This was my first theme and I wanted to keep it relatively simple (with just a few touches of my own brand of uniqueness). I created it to get a feeling for the ThemePark interface and familiarize myself with the many widgets that make up OS X. Getting rid of all the striped backgrounds and colorizing all the widgets was a good tutorial. It turned out to be good enough for occasional use.
Now I can move into the more esoteric areas of creating custom widgets, my own spin on the animated elements, and more adventuresome color schemes. It should be great fun (and a nice diversion during the long Minnesota winter!).

I too want to make a red variation of Aqua. So, I'm assuming, all I have to do is change the colour of all the blue elements to red. How'd I do that? Somehow using Photoshop? And how hard would it be to put the red bits in place of the grey bits, that the blue halo around text boxes and such would be grey instead and not clash with the red?

The halo is pretty much impossible to change I think... it's a real pain in the a$S. The only solution I've found is to use 'graphite' in the system prefs so the halo is whitish grey instead. As far as a red variation of Aqua someone has already done a theme with 5 different colors at least including a nice red. Check resexcellence.com
