Are there any plans in the pipeline for a full-featured, all-in-one OS X customization app?

I'm not necessarily batting at this because of the money complaints... it's just that at this point in time, completely themeing your system takes a lot of work and more than one app. You need SS to change the basic UI, installers for iTunes skins, SafarIcon, installers for any other apps that you want to change, Mighty Mouse to change your cursors, CandyBar to change icons, and [conceivably] ThemeChanger to change root-owned junk.

That's a lot of apps.

It would be great to have one app that could do this, and even better, have everything mentioned above shoved into little kits. Have the UI themes, the application makeovers, the desktop pics, the icons, and the cursors all stuffed into one bundle that can just be copied to the HD and used right away.

I know SS is already heading in this direction, since somebody mentioned the plastic buttons and desktop pictures being able to be integrated, but it would be nice to have everything packaged together. And even better, give ThemePark the ability to create everything... themes, icons, cursors, you name it.

That will be the day to celebrate in OS X themeing - When you can download a file from a themer's website, copy it to your HD, open up a theme app and apply it, and *bam*, your entire system is changed and nice and consistent.

I dunno, this is sort of an optimistic rant in a weird way... just sort of saying what I think many people will want.

I'm pretty sure Candybar and Safaricon are going to be rendered useless for ShapeShifter registrees come the next version or two.

I personally think expecting a single app to be able to change the appearance (icons, etc..) of individual apps is asking a bit much. Those are all independent, custom resources. Everybody who cares should send feedback to Apple asking them to make their own apps comply with their own rules and stop using hack job custom UIs.

I do think it's logical to integrate things like pointers, system icons, shadow control, window shades, etc.. into one app. If ShapeShifter is going to be the spiritual successor to Kaleidoscope then all of that should be in there.

It'll also be easier to make people cough up money on an all inclusive GUI overhaul package then nickel and dimeing them for individual features.

It would be cool if Unsanity put Mighty Mouse, Window Shade, Clear Dock, Metallifizer and ShapeShifter all in one.

i dont see how you fit windowshade in there but since i already paid I agree, put windowshade in!

Windowshade lets you SHIFT the SHAPE of the window by allowing window shading and MIP, so it is encompassed by the name.

I do think that metalifizer could be built in (leave the free download up) and mighty mouse should definitely be included (theming your mouse pointer and all).

I put in in there because Kaleidoscope had some minimize options (windowshade under OS 9).

Considering that SS is already doing this with menubar widgets, etc., I don't think it's an impossibility... it would be best it the app was somehow designed to let themers choose what to replace, and whatever they wanted to replace. So if Themer A wanted to replace iChat button images and Safari toolset, he could, while Themer B could opt to just replace the menubar widgets and some system pref icons.

i'm against ShapeShifter installing icon sets without user's consent. maybe i don't want the icon set the themer provided. and wallpapers? no way.

i want options baby. options. i want it to be an option if i want iTunes skinned or Safari skinned or Address Book skinned.

I am too, so I've made it clear that if it ever were supported by SS it would need options.

But i bet they would make it so the user could decide if he wanted the icons installed or not... i think it would be great if they had a similar idea of candybar with the new ss
