Folks,

Could everyone please agree to stop making posts where their personal software issues are reported as absolute truth?! There have been ay tooo many posts recently where people say something like "here, let me explain to you why this program sucks, and why no one should use it" and then they proceed to give their own issues as THE reason. Then we end up having a flame war, where some people say, no this product rocks, while others keep saying it does not work at all.

Everyone here needs to understand that Macs come in many flavors, and that there's lots of different ways to have your software/hardware setup. Apps on Mac come precompiled and ready to use. This opens up the possibility of them behaving differently on various systems. So if some program crashed your system, it does not mean you have to come here and tell everyone else to stop using it b/c it will crash their machines as well.

If you are having issues with an app, submit a bug report. Threads like that should be marked as such. All code is buggy, as everyone who has done any serious programming knows. The first rule is "there's always one more bug" bugs should be reported and worked out. They should not be used by people to slander the makers of the app.

If you want to run a system where if you install an app and it breaks, you know it's the app's fault for sure, you should switch to one of the compile-on-the-fly flavors of Linux, like Gentoo. Don't expect the impossible from a Mac.

well i dont agree with the gentoo point, because hardware is always a factor, no matter the OS. I mean just in the install process theres like a billion different options that are dependant on your hardware (then if you have an emac like me the graphics card has a bunch of problems ). Windows, Mac, Linux, or any other OS, your hardware will always play a role in how software acts from one degree to another.

But I do agree with your main point, it seems people think that by slandering SS in any way they can they will be able to "bring SS down". Thats the only explanation I have, if they wanted to fix anything they would email unsanity about the problems. They just want to "bring to light" all the problems with SS in a public realm, where they get the most attention.

well, abot Gentoo, I just meant that it runs optimization on all code it compiles when you install a program. Of course hardware still matters, especially if it's buggy But Gentoo and the like are a step towards uniformity.
