el seedy is the skin I have been busy on, it's a port of my sofa theme. I am looking for a beta tester or 2 and a mentor These screenies are the tip of the iceberg and a couple of variations with be released at the same time.

I was going to enter it into the mac themes contest, but decided against it as I would like to complete the entire theme myself. The theme is about 80% complete I am just finishing up on arrow widgets, tabs and progress bars, which happens when I get time.

I am also away from home and dedicated bandwidth, so atm beta updates will be infrequent. If you're interested in either one of the available positions, please post here

I take it this is why you asked questions of how-to in themepark Looks like a Co-Pilot meets Digital Device. Then again its similar to LCD Pro from the mockup contest

One of the reasons I decided to announce it was because of it's similarity to lcd pro, I would hate people to think I copied anyone else as I have invested so much time in this theme and learning themepark :/ The theme is inspired by my own sofa theme, which in turn is inspired by the ipod.

There are other elements which will separate it from all of the above mentioned theme's, but I am keeping a lid on those as I would like to keep a few surprises for launch.

P.S : Still need a beta tester

I hate when people bring up their own work in other people's threads but, this is quite similar to GUiPod.

Just what I was thinking. And that Pro LCD has like 80% vote.

I say we disscualify all the LCD themes from the contest because of this, Co-Pilot, and GUIpod. jk lol

I feel like dropping it completely to be honest, but I will finish it. One of the ideas for it was a backlit variation which I used for the sofa jetblack theme, but I would rather start on something unique.

Because it is SO like it, just didn't know if he wanted to keep on developing something that is so similar.

what? thats not too similar at all? come on guys lets be a bit more open to variations of design. i don't see anyway that this theme is too much like guipod or any other for that matter. the design element and the overall coloration is completely different. i for one would welcome another slick white theme. i don't use guipod much because of it's orange highlights.
keep it going as is is my vote. great work!
peace.

Im not saying it looks TOO similar to GUiPod. Im saying it is the same basic idea, he even stated so in that it is inspired by the iPod.

I wasnt attacking cube and Im sure he see's that but please dont blind yourselves to the fact that the menus are attempting the same effect as GuiPod; and as they should be, afterall thats how an iPod menu looks right?

I think everyone in the GUI forum is so used to turning any comment into an flame or looking for an opportuniy to get into a bitchfest they take anything thats not a completely neutral or positive statmenet and spin it so it is confrontational.

That I can do without. Im taking a break from this place.

Hey cube3, I liked your original mockup better (I forget which thread it was in). I think you had gradients on the sides of the metal windows. Why'd you change it so drastically?

man swiz. you need to relax. i was just speaking about design and i didn't see anything i said as 'flaming' lol. wow, i think a break might be helpful.

these are just themes people and opinions are allowed and rebuttals are also allowed. i was simply thinking of an open discussion about design.... hmmm. maybe not. unreal.

peace.

The original mockup was in the macthemes contest thread.

http://forums.macnn.com/showthread.p...highlight=snow

It's the 8th post down.

This is the original image. http://homepage.mac.com/cube33/.Pict...indow-snow.png

I will probably do a variation that works from the side like the original mockup, but until creating a theme, I didn't know what themepark was capable of, so I have sort of limited myself.

I am trying hard not to tread on any toes here, but like swiz said, there is a limit to what you can do with an iPod inspired theme without there being some similarities. Where possible I have tried to differentiate. I am pretty sure when people see the other elements of the skin they will like it. I am quite glad I moved away from the original design, I think the new elements work far better, but I will get feedback from the other testers tonight.

Wibs: I can be your padawan
bv: I have added you to beta list.

The beta guikit will be out tonight.

whoa, it's looking pretty sweet cube3. a theme I would use.

a few comments...

the round text entry field doesn't handle your background very well =-\

the selected finder sidebar item is hard to read, with the window inactive or active

I like the finder toolbar buttons a lot, inactive and active, aside from the inactive path button. It just doesn't do it for me. I also think the inactive back/forward buttons look more active than the active ones.

check your large scrollbar background .

The bevel on a lot of white elements seems too strong in contrast to the mostly flat LCD parts. Don't get me wrong, it's a good looking bevel, just too harsh.

Overall I really like this though, keep up the good work!
DigitalRamen sucks.

The scrollbars were the first thing I tried so they will definitely be getting a rework. Just want to finish off the sliders and the other missing pieces, then I can start fixing the rest of the bad decisions

The finder item has already been fixed, I did it just after I uploaded the beta.

There will be a version with lighter bevels and minimal approach to menu's etc, as well as backlit version.

Yeah, I am not totally happy with the finder toolbar buttons and will probably spend more time on them in the next pass.

cube. it looks sharp! it seems like your on top of any comments i would have at this stage in the game.
i do have one question. why did you deviate from your original concept? i liked a few of the design elements in the 1st version like the scroll-bars and even the gradient you had on the left and right side of the window. that was quite unique. was this found to be unachievable or just a design decision? just curious?

keep up the great work and please keep me in the loop when you have new versions available to test.

cheers!

Right now the first variation has been all about getting my mind around Themepark, I thought it best to complete one version before being too experimental. This first one has been very helpfull for setting up actions and templates in photoshop.

I now have a much better Idea of how things work, so I will finish this initial piece, then start on the other variations. I am hoping to have 3 variations for release. Vanilla, minimal and backlit.
