Hi all,

I am theme user not a theme maker so please keep that in mind.

I am the proud owner of a G5 machine. Love it. Love the brushes metal look of it so I thought I would "theme" my OS to match. Using the "Brushed Metal" theme and ShapeShifter I have nearly done that. Nearly. As a former user of Duality, I was use to my theme programing making my theme apply everywhere on my OS. All windows. Now with SS I see that is does not update my statup window, login window, About this Mac window, and windows used by (i guess) root. Like for the installers and such. Anyone know how I can complete my quest for a brushed metal OS? So that ALL windows have the theme's look?

P.S. Can't go back to 10.2.x and Duality since by G5 wont run Jag....only Panther. Not that I would want to any way.

Peace out,

mac_daddy

You can still do it the same old way using themechanger! Themechanger still works fine... it's just a little more dangerous if you mess up, that's all.

I love the U.S., but we need some time apart.

Too bad Brushed is a GUIKit....How about using Brushed and Metallifizer? You'll have to apply the Boot panel manually though.

you could apply Brushed, then open up ThemePark, create a new theme, then Theme>Merge with Installed Elements, then export the theme as a DLTA. the apply the theme with Duality or ThemeChanger, and you're good to go.

Thanks to all for the help and good ideas. Another fly in my ointment now is that my demo of ShapeShifter has just expired. I have no problem paying for software but I am think I may not use ShapeShifter other than the one time doing that is suggested below. Anyone know of another way to convert guikit to dlta?

Do what fireside said...

You need SS however. You can buy it or when a new version comes out you (the demo trial restarts) you can do it then.

Or search Max's forums for mods of brushed. I posted one there in dlta format a while back! Then you can modify it to your liking and post it yourself if you get Max's permission.

I love the U.S., but we need some time apart.

The trial *does not* restart. It hasn't yet and I attempt to try every new release since the first one only to find it tells me the thing is still expired when I install a new trial.
