SR399

This should make quite a few people happy. Note the "2004." I am that busy, so I am giving myself that much of a safety net. My apologies. It could be done in a month, or on December 31, but I reserve the right to pull a "BBX Omega" on you guys (I'm so kidding; please, no flames).

I hope this stirs up a little excitement, though. I know there are Metroid fans out there.

Sorry for the tease. I haven't made a set in so long, I just got excited.

I guess I should've said that they're going to be icons. Uh, yeah, icons. Not sure if I'm going for a full Finder replacement or not yet, but it's possible (the further in I get).

Looks very cool! Metroid: Prime was my favorite game in the last few years, and this new icon set seems to have a more realistic style than your others, which I am liking a lot.

Sounds cool, but I have a feeling that if you don't releace it by the time you say so, or don't give more details before too long, you'll be getting flames...

You should release it to coincide with the movie, although it looks like it'll be a while:

Yeah, I thought it would be cool to mix up the art styles a bit. I was thinking something similar to that old set, but frankly some of the icons are pretty cheesy in that set. I'm going for a dark and dirty, more realistic Metroid set this time.

Glad people are a little psyched about it.

What does everyone think—go for the full Finder replacement set?

And I'll try to not be shy about posting updates in the future.

I also think it would be sweet if someone created a metroid-related osx theme. I think it would be slick if someone designed a theme around the look of Samus's suit... IT IS HOT.

I think a full Finder replacement(CandyBar) would be more satisfying than one or two icons or only folders.

Also I think that you should post all that you're heart desires

I was aiming for more than two icons.

I'll post updates, though not too many, as to keep the good stuff for release.

That's what I thought it was at first. I don't see why anyone shouldn't, it would be a good idea to make a Metroid theme.

wickedfour (joe) and I have talked about a metroid theme. he really wants to do one based on the HUD, but neither of us can come up with a good way to do it. samus's suit isn't something i've heard heard mentioned before, that could be pretty cool too .

Did that ever work for Custom Icons? I always have the problem that the Icon doesn´t change to drag state when it´s not the original Aqua one

you can create custom icons w/ drag states using iconfactory. I made one of an iBook closed + when sumthingwas dragged to it, it opened.

What he said.

Finished the external drive icon. So far, I have a list of 73 icons to make, which will possibly increase or decrease (haven't decided on some things yet, including adding and taking some out of the list).

Anyhow, the external drive:

Would these icons look better if the texture was more subtle? It looks as if the contrast is too harsh. Or then again, it could be my screen.

They've gone through some changes in the lighting and contrast department, especially the ones shown, but they're basically the same. Guidelines schminelines. No one follows them. Icons need some style nowadays, anyway.

MindFad, could you show off an icon against a patterned background? The black makes it hard to see how it's masked. I wish I knew how to use Cinema 4D like you. It looks very complicated.

Cinema4D isn't so hard. I've still plenty to learn. I'd still consider myself a bit of an amateur with it. These are pretty basic models. Most of the work is Photoshop, though. Patience, practice, and fooling around.

There's different forms of it too in Prime that would all make cool icons.
