I am loking to remove all of the glitz loaded with Panther. What I want is a no-nonsense, business like appearance to my display. Is there a pre packaged theme which will do this for me? I guess what I really want is to make it look like OS 9 or earlier.

I'd love to see a theme that was as simple as possible - no rounded corners whatsoever; everything a shade of grey except for the titlebar, which could be a bright color. No gradients, no 3D look at all. I've got a mental image of a look inspired by the X11 Athena Widgets toolkit and TWM window manager, but I just don't have the themeing skillz to do it.

I downloaded rhapsodized, and it is not bad. Not quite what i was looking for. What I would like is most likely impossible: to get rid of the dock, the view buttons, etc. Basically make X into 9. Rhapsodized is a good start, but the X look os still there. What I am looking for is (and please pardon the Gatesian reference here), Use Classic look in Windows. This changs the interface to the old style. Apple apparently does not think anyone like the old look and that new is always better.

dvalley... you're prolly gonna want windowshadex then as well to bring back window-shading and to kill the excessive drop shadows on windows in OS X.

Not really. I was thinking far more basic than that. Buttons would be rectangles. No color except in the titlebar. No border around the active part of the scrollbar - it would just be a different shade of grey.
Is the theme mockup template still available? Maybe I'll take a crack at it - I don't have Photoshop, so I hope Corel PhotoPaint can import the template...

Well, Max's Classic Platinum still hasn't been ported, but I'm a big fan of Gershwix: http://www.geocities.com/gershwix/. You will also want to check out Unsanity's WindowShade X and FruitMenu.

hey, you forget Good Grey !
Respecting shape of os X without any metal or platic textures..
In this preview there is not the graphite version of this theme, completely grey, for me the best..

A lot of the "glitz" in X to which you refer is quite functional, actually. Usability was the original motive for its creation -it was not a mere artistic choice.
I have forsaken the unstable, ugly mess that is classic.

I love Kowloon. I want a theme that is masculine, no fricking glowing pulsating buttons. Make everything square and rugged. Kowloon is the theme I always go back to with AquaExtreme/SmoothStripes (square) a close 2nd/3rd.
That's why I loved Elroy's unnamed theme mockup...
