I am the only user but even entering password to overwrite files to change some on the menu icons it says I don't have sufficient privileges to overwrite? Thanks.

i use 'get info' on the folder which contains the files. change the ownership to yourself, make the changes and remember to change ownership of that folder back to system.

'BatChmod' is a great app for that kind of thing, (versiontracker has it) I've found it more reliable for applying the privileges to all the enclosed files and folders than the get info box is.
