different is good! Don't just break the mold - shatter it!

run with it until it feels like a complete set to you.
very nice colors... you might consider capturing a couple of snaps so peoples can see them being used.

What a beautiful treatment, completely original but perhaps just a tad too abstract. Try a set that hints at typical apps, folders, etc. COOL!

Thank you for your insightful and alternative perspectives everyone! Sooooooo helpful! I know that the icons are facing mondo usability issues now. Hahoha, to be perfectly honest, there was a tidal wave of spontaneous inspiration that lasted for an hour, and then, shaka laka boom, finish!

To create the icons I used PS7, Polygonal Lasso Tool, and sometimes Lasso Tool,
using the Gradient Map, and then selecting the Center Gradient Tool I chose my colors; Naturally the Gradient Center gives the transparency. Throwing in a few free-transforms, transforms, scales, skews, perspectives. The first time I used this technique was for a Newspaper, back in 2000. Instead of using the gradient, I adjusted paintbrush flow, transparency, and brush size ten to twenty times to accomplish a colorful crazy cool effect. I hope this helps you out!
