I do not think there is a way I have had the same issue a while back when using DragThing. I just gave the trash a different icon so that it did not look like the Trash, hehe.

You can turn off the trash in the process dock for DragThing in the preferences. If your problem then is 2 docks showing open applications, one of them the real dock with the trash, just turn on dock hiding and put it at the top of the screen. It will only show up when you hold your mouse over a 1 pixel activation area, but you'll still get notification when you receive a message or something like that and an app icon bounces.

...or maybe I just completely misread what you were trying to say.

err... i have not tried this an it just came to my mind...

what about replacing it with one of the blank dock separator icons made by max? at least it'd be invisble... since these are icons this might even work with candybar...

just an idea. try at your own risk.

I've been using the blank separators from max for the exact thing. I replaced the garbage icon with a blank separator through candybar at it works fine.
