Why does the Active and ghost thumb cap have multiple images?
It seems interesting that Apple would have these in here, when (as far as I can tell) they aren't being used.
It makes me wonder... were they intending to add, or are they maybe still intending to add, animated thumbs?

half the stuff in the extras rsrc is junk left over from previous versions of os x.

when widgets are added as the gui is updated and resources are made obsolete apple leaves these in place. maybe because some un-updated old apps may call on them.

there is stuff from the x beta that are still in there even tho they were never ever used.

however they could dump stuff only the old finders used...eg.: the open, close collapse and toolbar buttons etc.

basically it's packrat rsrc.
