Here is something I didn't expect:
I tried pasting in very large bevels into the metal window.
This is the top left bevel:

This bevel uses a graduated transparency from solid colour in the outer (top left) corner to transparent in the inner edges. (the white is transparent)
The aim was to have the background (a very wide graduated colour) show gradually through the middle of the window, with the outer edge of the bevel blending around the background.

However, for some reason the transparency acts as if inverted.
Here is the resultant window:

The corner bevel image should have been visible in the corner of the window, however, the corner is transparent in the second resultant image.
(the bevel is only visible where it should be invisible) ...very odd.

At this stage I'm guessing the reversal is triggered by either the very large image size... or an extreme colour range.

I don't understand what you were trying to do or what actually happened, but that's cool and someone is going to use it for something really interesting soon I bet!

I love the U.S., but we need some time apart.

by the way... the transparent area is not clickable... though the floating buttons still function normally. =)

I don't think so...
although it may have some effect, It certainly appears to be caused by the bevel.
after sleeping on it, I wonder if it might even be effected by a 256 colours limit.

A transparent bar would certainly be easy to whip up... though I'm not sure how many people would use it.

One of my iterations had a similar effect, I corrected by doing something to either the metal window gradient or metal window texture forgot which

I take it all back.
The cause of the problem was simply me forgetting to match the window mask, to the bevel. =/

yes... though the transparent areas can only be in the corner sections.
the good thing is... the corners sections don't seem to have a size limit.

You can't make an omlete without breaking a few eggs...
and I seem to have something yellow on my face...
though I do have a few yummy omletes cooking in the pan.
=)
(and I still have many baskets full of eggs yet to use)

That water theme is sick. It'd be nice if other peeps did something more creative like THAT instead of just throwing silver and white bevels into a theme and calling it a day ^_^

slick or sick? =) LOL
I hadn't seen it as a 'Water' theme... I'm taking it in another direction at the moment.
but you are right... a water based theme could work.

I think he means this water theme.

also, it seems that these days, sick has become almost a synonym for slick (i.e "dude, that's a sick car"="dude, that's a cool car"). it still has me rather confused...

Defintion-

1)crazy, cool, insane

Sentences

1)man, that trick was sick yo

But besides that a water theme is awesome i still think burned paper would be cool using the whole transparency thing.

a view of the decline of western civilization.
I hope we're enjoying the ride.

DragonT I did not mean to push someone elses theme in your thread with that water link.

I really look forward to seeing your ideas come out and play.
