i love the image above but the theme looks to beveled and big. I like the title bar and x-+ widgets but the safari/finder buttons look HUGE. Also, i'd like the main menu bar to look nice like the title bar.

I do think you theme has a GREAT start and i'll keep it around for a while.

This theme is really great, but one thing bugs me. the text beneath the icons in the metal windows (actions, new folder, etc.) is almost unreadable. is it possible to change this color or do I need to start using icons?

P.S.
Will there ever be a port of snowman?

the unreadable type is my only comment.

This theme like the others looks great and is very usable overall. I love seeing the candy like interfaces return to the OS.

Thank you for all the hard work.

Thanks for that. =)
Yes I think you are right... the Safari/Finder buttons are possibly too fat.
possible solutions:
  • countersink the button 'plate' into the panel (using pillow embossing)
  • recessing the button 'plate' deeper into the panel
  • sharpening the bevels of the button 'plate'
  • etching the icon into the 'plate'
  • inverting the icon, flush into the plate, black on silver (my favourite)
Also, i'd like the main menu bar to look nice like the title bar.
I do think you theme has a GREAT start and i'll keep it around for a while.
Do you mean that the menu bar should turn to black on the right, or have the slighly recessed title area, or something else?

At this stage, I don't think that text can be changed... without effecting other text.
If anyone knows otherwise, I'd love to hear it. =)
The other choice would be to have the dark background change back to light background at a point to match the text position. Possible... however it would look awful in Safari. =/
so... for now... use icons. =)
P.S.
Will there ever be a port of snowman?
When Shapeshifter allows the window outer edge to be modified like Kaleidoscope did... then it might be. Until then... not possible sorry. =(

It should be Themes -> (your variant) -> Elements -> Global Elements -> Text Colors -> Control Text.

Are you not changing it because it's too ungranular? There have been a lot of requests for more granularity on that particular text color. Or are Finder toolbar text items one of the text colors I broke in SS 1.2?

Granular? I'm not sure what you mean by that.
The Control text does change the Finder metal window text (under the buttons)
which is on a dark background...
but it also changes all the 'Customise Toolbar' text (grey background), the Metal window 'footer' text, and non-metal 'Header' text, the 'Get Info' text, 'View Options' text, and all the text in shapeshifters preview window except for the List Header and Segmented Buttons text (all of which are light grey backgrounds)
An odd exception to this is that the 'Inactive Control text' only effects the heading and button text in the 'Customise Toolbar'... not the other text.

Since the only 'Control Text' on a dark background is under the finder icons... at this stage, I figure leaving them Black works best... so far.

What would be handy is... if we could isolate the Metal window text from the non metal window text.
And... while I'm on that, it would be very handy to be able to isolate all the parts between the Cocoa, Carbon and Metal windows, so that they can have different appearances without having to worry about clashes when they use each others graphical elements.

I've been thinking about this...
At first I thought you meant too big as in... thick. Sticking out too far from the background.
I built a new version to get around that...
but as I'm living with it on screen, I now think I realise what you really meant.
Exactly as you said... they are too big.
(Well, the refresh, stop and add are.)
