i've been using "pdf services", saving a lot of pages, email, etc as pdfs.
is there any way i can change the default icon for pdfs?
i dont think candybar has that option.
possible??

Well, there really isn't a "default" icon for PDFs, per se... the icon depends on what application is registered to open PDFs. On your system, though, that's probably Preview. If so, you can change the icons by opening Preview.app's package contents, then navigating, er, well, here: file:///Applications/Preview.app/Contents/Resources/. The file you want in there is pdf.icns. You'll likely have to log out and back in before you notice any difference, though.
