Can anyone with the knowledge please elighten me on how to add an alpha channel to a .gif animated image? Or how to add an alpha channel to an icon? Here's the scenario: I download an animated .gif image from the net. I then try to drag and drop the .gif in the "wait" well of MightyMouse App. A message box appears saying that the image needs to have an alpha channel in order to be used. I then open the image using GraphicConverter App. I choose add alpha channel from one of the options but the original image disappears. Does anyone know what gives? There has got to be a more efficient and simpler way to this. Right? So, when I find a cool gif image that I want to use as an animated "wait" in MightyMouse App and it tells me that an alpha channel must be attached to the image in order for me to use it, I have been opening the image using GraphicConverter App. I then save each individual frame of the animation as a tiff image. I then can add each individual .tiff image into MightyMouse App, one at a time. Thus building the animated wait. Seems like more work than is necessary. Right?
Any and all guidance is greatly appreciated people.

gif's cant have an alpha chanel. GIF's acheive transparency by assigning a color in their color map to be transparent, so a pixel can either be totally transparent or totally opaque. An alpha chanel is basically a greyscale bitmap that describes what parts of the image are transparent and how transparent they are based on the ammount of black (or at least thats how it's made tangible in graphics editing apps). I have no clue what format mightymouse uses (prob some type of proprietary thing), and I've never messed with it, so I can't really help you.
