I know this is kinda early, but there are some new screens of what longhorn might look like and though I love mac and aqua and everything about apple, I think it would be cool to attempt a theme resembling this. So maybe we should wait for more news on longhorn, but these few screens are intriguing. Take a look and let me know what you think.

Edit: Also just found this screen which shows a pretty cool theme too.

lol, been browsing Aero-Soft?
no, you won't see a theme cause OS X doesn't support transparency in a lot of places needed for the glass look.
and the title bar widgets are too wide to be in OS X

well, we could mod the title bar widgets to be not as wide and find a way to work around the transparency issue by adding some other cool effect or by producing an opaque yet similar design. Come on people, be creative. Stop shooting ideas down so early, we need some new themes and thinking in my opinion. The forums have gotten really boring because people just keep regurgitating the same themes.

even though its windows...it does look a million times better than xp, which if i remember correctly, xp was made into an osx theme. xp looks like it was made with crayola crayons and that longhorn looks like they hired someone older than 3 to choose the colors.

Doesn't Apple have a patent on Piles (Stacks)?

So let's regurgitate a Windows theme to give the creativity a good ol' kick start eh? Nice one.

What i meant by creative is not being so pessimistic about lacking some way of doing things... dont just say "it cant be done". And who cares if it is a windows theme, its new to mac and some people might like it. I dont understand why people get so pissed about windows themes...im not forcing you to use it or even to respond to my post. If you dont like it, ignore it. Stop being obstacles to someone wanting to contribute to the community. Thanks.

Sorry, I just don't like it much when a newb comes in here and starts telling us we're all lacking creativity and that we should be looking to Windows for inspiration.
For the record I have nothing against Windows themes per se, any theme should be judged on its individual merits, not what platform it is on - a recent post by gruneeitelkeit showed some of the best from the Win scene. However, you do need to bear in mind that as far as themes go OSX is not very flexible at the moment, so coming in here waving around 'ideas' that at the moment are simply not possible, then flaming people for telling you so, is not going to win you many friends.

First off I'm not a newb despite the number of posts I have made, I have been around these forums and many other mac sites for a long time. I probably don't have a lot of posts because I don't just respond to posts to discourage people... Either way, I don't want to start the whole name-calling stuff. All I am trying to say is that I never said we need to look to windows for inspiration, what I meant by creativity was that we need to be creative in overcoming obstacles. I know that some of the features of that theme may be difficult or impossible at the moment to reproduce, but I am sure there are ways to work around it. So siMac I am sorry if for some reason you are offended, but honestly this is purely about contributing to the community and not about getting into an argument about who has been here longer. So I am going to try and work on a mockup in the near future, let me know if anyone has any ideas or hints. Thanks.

if there is one theme that kind of looks like the 'Glass' look of Longhorn. also - you could use Aerobrowser for some transparent browsing.

I'm mates with the guy that made Aerobrowser. Nagged him to make nicer toolbar icons.
[+1 Agreement with siMac, let's wait until we can do GUI-wide transparency before rallying up doin' a similar theme.]
