Not currently. The Finder skins are in a slightly different format, and any theme that uses custom menus is broken. The Finder skins might be fixable, but themes will probably have to be redone for the menu problems. In addition icons will have to be redone.

Here is a screenshot of Milk under 10.4 with the Finder skin problems:

GoMac,

Your insight into our products and what they will and will not do in the future is much appreciated.

I am consistently amazed out how you know so much about what we have done, are doing, and plan to do in the future. Your crystal ball is indeed very powerful.

We are indebted to you to for providing such a valuable resource to the community. As such, I feel obligated to compensate you for your service. Where do I send the check?

Again, thanks so much!

P.S. For those who want to take a more traditional route and hear from someone actually writing the software in question, take a glance at an article on MacThemes.Net

Disclaimer: The above link is entirely un-GoMac approved. You might actually learn some real facts also, so please exercise all due caution.

Did I mention ShapeShifter anywhere?

Boy. You're a very upset person. Why would that be?

It was sort of an odd comment. You know perfectly well ShapeShifter will/does have the same problems. It doesn't take a genius to take apart ShapeShifter, only a few patches into ShapeShifter and an fsusage session. That said, Jason is a smart person and I'm sure he'll fix these problems in ShapeShifter and 10.4. A patch in of a new MenuEnhancer on the fly would probably fix the menu bugs. Jason has already made a few comments about 10.4 compatibility though. ShapeShifter doesn't run at all under Tiger currently though.

Well,
I was told by an IT friend never to run the initial release of an OS,
to always wait for V .1
Don't know if that's true but...will give me some extra time to re-adopt SS

hey gomac, are you still releasing your super-cool theming app in april of... wait, what year was that? you act as if your software competes with ShapeShifter, but I haven't seen any evidence for a long time that you have anything at all to do with theming, other than your continual insistence that you make theming software that's better than anything available but just isn't quite ready to be released quite yet.

If we pretend that you actually are making software that competes with shapeshifter, bashing a rival company's product by making statements about its future abilities that you know as little about as the rest of us is just bad form.

To answer the question that was asked, if you use the current version of Shapeshifter, no, it will not work with Tiger properly, and your themes will basically be broken.

That said, I don't think Colin overstepped any of the bounds of etiquette or professionalism when he stated just what I said. Nowhere in this topic did he say something like, "Shapeshifter doesn't and won't work, but my upcoming project will do what Shapeshifter can do AND MORE!" If he produces more vaporware (if you can do such a thing...strange oxymoron), then feel free to rip into him in the appropriate topic. As it is, he didn't bring up any of his past (or future) projects, nor did he say anything that is untrue. At present, the version of Shapeshifter that has been released does not work with Tiger. That is a fact. If you think otherwise, then download Shapeshifter, find a nice torrent of Tiger (or become a developer), and try to use the two together. That's not to say that a future version will not work, but the current one does not. Colin didn't make any statements about future products, only that which is available to the public as of today. I see no problem with that at all.

Seriously, people. Grow up. He didn't cause you any harm, so leave him alone.

When they release a new version for Tiger, will the people who have already payed for the version for Panther have to pay again, or is it just counted as an update, and going to be free?

I stand by my I don't think Jason would survive asking money for a compatibility update.

Our standard practice is NOT to charge for compatibility updates. So yes, SS for Tiger will be a free update.

Music to my ears. What's the news on a Tiger version then, how far is it in development over at Unsanity (sorry if you've been asked this before)?

While I risk public sacking by the Unsanity crew, last I checked ThemePark will run, but adding a variation doesn't work.

That sounds good. I don't really run themes, but I've got a slightly modded Aqua in which I've replaced just a few elements.

It "runs" but doesn't do its full job yet. Of course there is an update on the way to add elements such as the spotlight icon, etc...
