Hullo all..during my extended stretch offline i have still remained busy..
I have completed all but one of the themes i started last winter..
For a preview of all 5 you may check here..

http://s175.photobucket.com/albums/w...ediafilter=all

Until such time as I find a site i like to host them, i'l make a few available for feedback for a couple of days each ..starting with my redone OSX version of HiTech.

http://www.4shared.com/file/17711159...e/HiTechX.html

For anyone who remembers the earlier themes carbon fibre and windowpane, these are not like them...
These are fully complete usable themes..made exactly with everything i wanted in a theme..so natch i like em

The themes that I'e got screenshots for are Midas' Touch (the all Gold one, of course) TrueBlue (it's... uh...blue!), Tapestry (a much refined windowpane). BubbleYum (Hot Pink!), and of course..the theme I started first..HitechX..
Let me know which one of those you'd like to try out after seeing the screenshots..
Oh they're DLTA Themechanger files, for 10.3, and due to all the limitations of Shapeshifter in Panther I'm not ever going to make them in GuiKit..
Thanx y'all ...Doc

bangin' that port/update of HiTech is great. I am glad to see you decided to stay close to the original... I am a little disappointed to not see a Tiger version, but the new themers bring new ideas. I like the menu handling in TruBlu, I had not thought of putting a gradiant in the background, it sets the drop shadows up nicely in the dropdown. stick around, there are still a few on Panther and they will be glad to have new stuff for them.

Interesting mods but seems a lot of work for a very limited audience.

Well, Ill put a copy of both up at 4shared tomorrow for a couple days.
A limited audience? Hmmm...I'm batting 2 out of 3 so far....
I expected mostly those (like me) who think brushed metal sux would like these..

As promised..TrueBlue and Midas' Touch are available now..plus a couple archives of just the icons..the genericones all have both open and closed states..the badged ones don't because of the way the icons open up (i may fix this in future..or not)...

4shared.com - online file sharing and storage - download TrueBlue Theme.sit
4shared.com - online file sharing and storage - download Midas Touch.sit
4shared.com - online file sharing and storage - download Midas Icons.sit
4shared.com - online file sharing and storage - download Blue icons.sit

I'll also leave HiTechX up for a couple more days...

Finally,
A design artist that uses a variety of color. I'm a big fan of darker themes with color which you have perfected my friend. Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing your awesome designs. I especially dig and am praying for your release of BubbleYum & Tapestry themes. YOU ROCK !!!

docus,

I'd love to host these on my site. Yours would be the first theme added to the Download section, so as of now I have no set format for preview images, but they can be up to 500 px wide, which is pretty large by most standards.

Drop me a line and we can work out exactly what you'd like to see featured in a preview and I'll make it the standard for the future.

Great work!

HiTechX is now also available as GuiKit, for Tiger users (although it's not yet updated for Tiger, just more usable in it, as a Guikit file...) and anyone else who prefers SS format..
and Tapestry is also up now..
More in SS versions, as my limited time permits...

4shared.com - online file sharing and storage - download Tapestry.sit
4shared.com - online file sharing and storage - download HitechX Guikit (Updated) final.sit

Enjoy! Doc...

doccus,
I was looking at your MACNN Forum rating & it I was astonished & excited to see that you are a newbie to this forum. If your offerings are just the beginning, I, as I am sure is everyone else, salivating in anticipation of your future. Myself being a user of ShapeShifter, I thank you for offering your themes as GUI.kits. An as far as Bubblegum goes, with or without an iTunes skin it still looks amazing and we all look forward to its release.

PS: Just wanted to comment on the post you received from Michael Coyle
michael@MichaelsMac.com. You should hook up with him because he did an
outstanding job with his old GUI site, ResExcellence.com and I have shecked
out his new one, MichaelsMac.com and it looks very promising. He's a stand
up guy and your designs will get plenty of quality exposure through him.

Thanks, again, for sharing your AWESOME talents with the rest of us

Thanks for making those themes available. Why are they not tweakable with guiTweak from Shapeshifter?
How would you go about getting rid of all the white backgrounds?

The other three are now also availkable as guikits:
4shared.com - online file sharing and storage - download Midas TouchGuiKit.sit
4shared.com - online file sharing and storage - download TapestryGuiKit.sit
4shared.com - online file sharing and storage - download TruBlueGuiKit.sit

been distracted or they'd have been up yesterday (Lemans..!)

TheZee..I did have an other thread here where I intro'd myself several months ago, and made my first themes available, but it seems to have completely and inexplicably disappeared..
And yes, I did semd Michael a note, but haven't heard back as of yet..

Curiosity..I have no idea why guitweak won't work, except that it doesn't ever work for me on any theme at all, in panther, using the last version of SS that will run on it...
Which white backgrounds are you referring to?
If ypour using the dlta themes in SS you will probably have better luck now with the GuiKits...
Re HitechX, for panther users, you'll find the very best results by first applying the DLTA theme, and then also using Shapeshifter to apply the guikit..
This way you'll not only get the boot screen, login screen, about this mac, and iTunes themed ((if you're using version 6.0.5)..which SS will not skin but themechanger will, but also all the fonts on dark surfaces will be light or white and easily legible (thanks to SS)

See y'all ...Doc

I may be mistaken about the GuiTweek problem however, this is what I believe to be at the core of the issue.
begin banging your head now...
If the elements imported into the tpark file, are of mixed format the file will not tweek - so if some are PNGs with transparency while others are not, within a particular element, the file is unable to process the mixed data.
don't stop banging yet
you will have to refer to an unmodified tpark file to find out what the correct format for that element is... sorry Duke. I sure hope my information is incorrect.

All my resources (except for the icons and desktop) in all my themes are tiff's with transparency, and so naturally within each element also.
I have quite a few downloaded gukits also now, and none of them will tweak either, so it's not just mine that won't tweak..the tweak button just remains greyed out..
So Curiosity isn't the only one with that problem....
This is with SS 2.3.1 (the last that runs in Panther, I believe)..

Quick not for everyone who's having a prob with the white fonts in hitechSS..caught me unawares because i set them all correctly, but somehow SS has decided to arbitrarily change them to white..
Wil fix as soon as I have time..

Duke is Bub, Buppy, Sam, Amigo, Joe, Cat, Homie . . . just a thang. Hope no offence taken.
Tweaking was implemented in Tiger, using CoreServices, hence why it's greyed out for you.
I will test the files out.

I am using Tiger, not Panther. The white backgrounds I mean are the sidebar and list background in the Finder, and list alternating rows in other apps with lists. I would prefer those areas to be a pastel colour like aquamarine or peachpuff.
What is the difference between .dlta files and .guiKit files?

Curiosity..I'll answer your last one first, as it leads into your first request..
Themes used to be in .theme or .dlta format, especially between OSX 10.1 and 10.2..
These were applied with various apps like duality and others like them..they worked by replacing the actual resources in the OS, so they only ever had to be applied once, and from then on nothing extra had to be running for the themes to show, as they were simply an unobtrusive part of the OS...
Unfortunately, things could and sometimes did, go wrong..one bad resource file could possibly cause the system to be unbootable.
Around the time (i think...) 10.3 came out, shapeshifter became available...it used a different type of format tho (the GuiKit)..that was (and still is) incompatible with any other theming application. It doesn't change any system files though, but rathr themes 'on the fly' so there's no risk of any problem with resources that could affect the system..
It has to be running (or , more accurately, loaded) though, so it can't theme anything that loads before it (the boot panel, login panel, 'about this mac'...etc)
Lately it's also been able to translate the DLTA files as though they were guikits, but that doesn't work as perfectly as it might, as they're meant more for replacing system files..i still prefer them, myself, as once theyre replaced succesfully, there's practically nothing that could possibly go wrong (well, nothing at all, really).
Guikits also have other options not available in the dlta files, especially in Tiger, because, as shapeshifter gets improved, so do the options with the themes...
An example is the list and sidebar background color..in a Shapeshifter theme (Guikit) I *am* able to color those with some pastel color, so if you like..let me know the theme your wanting it on..

..Incidentally, if anyone would be willing to use themepark, to make a basic Aqua 'theme' working file in Tiger..(don't forget the enhanced menus!), then
I would be able to use this as a pattern to fix the finder button broblem in Tiger..
and do other Tiger updates to these themes.
The button problem is the worst tho..they do look Awful!! in tiger.....
If anyone is willing..you can upload the tiger themepark file here..

Thanx..y'all.....Doc

Howdy y'all...
I have removed the desktop in the HiTechX guikit, as I may have inadvertantly included the wrong one!.
It did seem somehow different, as i as sure it was vanishing dots, rather than lines, but since it was in my os9 appearance folder i thought i must have remembered wrong..
Well, I found the one with the dots!
My humblest apologies to whoever recognises the previous one as theirs! (i have no idea where it came from though, now...)

I especially like the trueblue01 theme, so if the lists and sidebar could be peachpuff, that would look nice.

Peachpuff is a bit bright for me, especially with the gamma I use..
oldlace is a softer and lighter version you may also find works better..

Gotta keep giving you props on your AWESOME theme designs. I am partial to darker themes, and you do them very well. I haven't yet installed the complete HiTech theme but I did use the iTunes skin and it ROCKS !!! Looking forward to Bubblegum and whatever else you have coming. Thanks again.
