HI,
I would like to change the menu bar of my OSX.4 :
for example in Finder :
instead of "File", I would like to have "F"
instead of "Edit", I would like to have "E"
...

it is to have more place on the right side of the menubar to put some icons...

So the questions are :
How to do for the Finder ?
How to do for other applications (Mail, TextEdit...)

I think you'd have to edit the NIB files for each individual application to do that. Even then, I'd definitely recommend against doing it again on 10.5 if you eventually upgrade because someone else here found out for sure that tampering with certain "protected" OS X programs will cause the system to lock down your user account

Each windows an each application has it's own set of Menu entries. So as SpaceCat85 said, you'd have to edit every application you have, including Apple's own Finder...Which isn't quite smart. >_<
