A chain is only as strong as its weakest link.
Bush said he insulates himself from the "opinions" that seep into news coverage by getting his news from his own aides. He said he scans headlines, but rarely reads news stories.
"I appreciate people's opinions, but I'm more interested in news," the president said. "And the best way to get the news is from objective sources, and the most objective sources I have are people on my staff who tell me what's happening in the world."
Does he not realize how vulnerable to manipulation this makes him? I wonder if this is the reason behind why the Secret Service does everything it can to keep protesters away when Bush makes an appearance. It isn't for as much for the public, but to keep Bush well insulated in his bubble.

From your own messages one would think that inference is something you are familiar with.

You can try to project anything into any post if you try hard enough.

i wouldn't say he's a patsy necessarily, but getting your news solely from your close advisors is pretty shortsighted.
and then to call them objective sources. well, that's just laughable.

True enough but if someone without a hint of humor posts something like "hamas is the devil" it doesn't take a lot of imagination to assume that such a person is capable of leaps in logic far greater than what is required to make the connection between "Bush" and "patsy" from the link and posted quote in the opening message by BlackGriffen. I thought you were capable of seeing things that in the literal sense are not there.
By admitting to rely on what others tell him without double checking the man in the Oval office has set himself up to be duped. Did he show some sort of misguided loyalty for his advisers when he said that? Whatever happened to the famous checks and balances the US so proudly defends when it comes to evaluating the benefits of US Government over foreign systems?
Unfortunately he has not been the only one who has been duped by these spooks since a significant part of the nation he leads also bought the info from his advisers that he relayed to the general public. Apparently there are still people today who defend the selections made at the White House from the often contradicting data gathered from questionable sources. But I could be reading too much into this.

Thats disturbing. I would think the President would want to read news from various sources, to keep abreast of what is going on,
Listening soley to your aides is not a good thing in any situation.

Especially considering who is aides are, and their history.

So Bush considers his paid staff members, people who owe him their livelihoods and whose future success depends on remaining in his good graces, as "objective" sources of information. Yow.

BlackGriffen wasn't talking about physical safety, but the possibility that Bush is being shielded from firsthand exposure to people who disagree with his policies.

There are "those" who wold say that GWB doeasn't read the news, because, well, he's functionally illiterate.
Not sure where I picked up the orig. story, but a source inside the campaign in 2000 was quoted as saying that Bush never read ANYTHING that was handed to him, even. He'd glance at the position papers, then hand them back to the person who gave it to him, and say "Summarize this for me, please."
Of course, that's all just vague innuendo, so don't bother wasting a post pointing that out.

From what I've gathered, the moron has spent his life snorting coke, geting pissed, relying on daddy to bail him out of trouble, geting UNI's to let him in based on his pappy's wealth, and connections. Makes you wonder.

Oh, yeah? Well... well... Clinton got a blow job, and Al Gore invented the internet!

Nothing to fear here, folks. I'm sure God will tell Bush if any of his advisors tries to lead him astray.

Bush gets better news than any of us can imagine. He gets daily briefings from multiple agencies and departments, and his appointed staff is comprised of the brightest minds around.
Who the heck wants their President sitting around all day reading a stack of newspapers and magazines? Not I. I want him doing his job.
I'm sure that if there is a major news break, he is tuned in. Reading hundreds of pages of stories takes up too much time.

That's the spin and nonsense you choose to believe - in traditional liberal style.
You should also read the story of how GWB applied to Harvard Business School's MBA program without his father's knowledge, well before his father was even considered to be a VP candidate. Who knows...maybe you'll bump into some stories on Clinton's rampant coke use (up and through his governorship), or on Al Gore's dropping out of multiple graduate schools (with a GPA well below Bush's).
Debate the issues and stop slinging mud.

Grad school GPA's are meaningless.
