I don't know how good the liberals are going to be but I won't be shedding any tears for Ernie.

not surprising.

when your total tax burden reaches 75%, you'll know who to blame.

Why, oh why do you(and other conservatives) think that liberals want to raise taxes to those levels?

What give you that impression?

I could if you want enlighten you about how much we here on Iceland(a fairly liberal country) pay in taxes, as well as in many European countries. Then we could perhaps go through the differences in the two systems and see what we are paying extra for.

Then we can turn this into yet another thread that will slowly evolve into the next US-EU Flamefest™. Just take the first step, and enlighten us ignorant Europeans about the average US citizen, what he pays in taxes, what services he gets for that etc then we could perhaps give it a try.

For free (or dirt cheap) medical coverage, I would higher taxes. Gladdly. We're the richest nation in the world yet we do not have universal health coverage, which is quite sad.

The federal government has been controlled by the liberals for a long time now and yet our taxes are not 75%... curious and the deficit is going down.... imagine that?!
By the way are you even Canadian? Do you know anything about Canadian politics or are you just yapping for the sake of yapping?

I'm damn happy about this. It's about bloody time we got got rid of the PC government, though it would have been a tad sweeter had it actually been Mike Harris who was defeated, but hearing that ol' "Count" Eves had been defeated was quite satisfying. I'd hoped that the NDP would have gained more seats (well, I was really hoping that they would have become the official opposition, though there wasn't much chance of that happening), but it was reassuring that they had gotten more votes this year than in the previous two elections.

Now let's just hope that the Liberals don't f*ck up the education and health care system anymore than the PC party did.

The 75% figure is hyperbole, infidels. I try so hard to be so simple with you apostatic citizens of the Socialist Satans.

just aside...

doesn't Ernie remind you of a 1970s robot when he speaks? (a la Conan O'Brien Late Show comedy character 'Pimp Bot')...

if you are not familiar with the reference.. oh well...

i think Ernie killed himself when he said that it would be illegal for teachers to strike...(turn your back away from one of the most powerful unions in ON...ye that is a good plan)

and what about property tax cuts for seniors? Seniors don't want tax cuts they want hospitals, wrong thing to say when a large demographic in ON is approaching that age group or already in it...

just some basic glaring errors...

just my 0.02...

flame away...........................

I'm happy that the NDP didn't get elected. I voted Liberal, because I think it's time to give somebody else a go at it, but I have no particular dislike for the PC party.

BTW, Uday, unlike their names the Liberals are pretty centrist. They're not extreme lefties like you seem to think.

hmmm. Centrist and the political and ideological spectrums are relative to country of origin. Western Europe's centrists are America's liberals. I don't pay much attention to its frozen neighbour, so I can't speak on its spectrum as compared to the Great Satan.
