It's time for some friendly recognition! Below are my suggestions for nominees.
Feel free to make any additions. If we get any consensus we can start a poll.

Guidelines:

1. Don't go nominating yourself!
2. Don't nominate any authors of insulting posts.
3. Nominations should match this sort of criteria; intelligent, insightful, humorous, interesting, emotive (in a good way) etc etc
4. Nominations should include the persons username and one of their posts.

Here are mine in no particular order:

Troll

theolein

Simeythelimey

Logic

Boots

No time right now to pick out a singularly excellent post by either, but

ThunderousFunker
Moki
BlackGriffen
zigzag

have excellent track records for stimulating thoughtful discussion.

I'll link something later when I have more time.

I appreciate the thought, boots, and the feeling is mutual, but these types of threads make me nervous - so many people contribute in their way and I wouldn't want to slight anyone by making a list.

I will say one thing - every time I think the lounge is going down in flames, thoughtful new contributors like Gee-Man and clarkgoble (not new, I guess, but I didn't have any exchanges with him until recently) turn up, and that keeps me coming back.

Yeah, those were just the first off the top of my head. With more thought, I should add:

Roger_Ramjet
Clarkgoble
gee-man
vmpaul
davesimondotcom
Spliffdaddy (surprise-surprise)

And the list will grow. It would be easier, if much less appropriate, to name those I could do without.

But TF and BG are the ones that always make me come away thinking I learned something.

I don't think saying that diminishes the other contributions. There are certainly others that keep me coming back.

Consistent high marks should always go to thunderous_funker, zigzag, SimeytheLimey, BlackGriffen, and Clarkgoble but THE single best post of the year has to go to Spliffdaddy doing his imitation of SimeytheLimey. I'm sorry I don't remember the exact thread where it's posted.

Maybe in hindsight it isn't as funny but at the time during a contentious, fast-moving debate it really broke the tension and broke me up.

sheesh, you lay off posting for a week and everyone forgets you exist...
If this post is in the Lounge forum, it is likely to be my own opinion, and not representative of the position of MacNN.com.

It's rare that I say anything noteworthy.

Simey and vmarks create posts that are always worth reading, in my opinion.

Every now and then I see posts from theolein that are outstanding - any post where he isn't chewing somebody out is a good one.

For some strange reason, the Iceland gang kicks much ass on a regular basis, too.

I dunno. I like most of the folks that post here. Everyone has achieved their 15 minutes of fame as far as I can tell.
