What could be better than Weapons of Mass Destruction?
WEAPONS OF MASS DESCRIPTION. That’s right. Why bother wasting precious man-hours that could be spent subjugating difficult citizens trying to produce chemical or biological weapons? Why waste that time manning a nuclear reactor in an attempt to produce nuclear materials? Why waste the money buying weapons of mass destruction from the United States, granted that they consider you a malleable despot that will do their bidding? Really, why bother?
Actually possessing weapons of mass destruction is pointless in this day and age. Better to spend your time and effort cultivating the hottest new weapon out there -
weapons of mass description. All the bang for no bucks.
By the time you admit UN inspectors into your country the United States will most assuredly usurp them and invade. Either they’re coming to reclaim the WMD’s that they sold you in the first place or your
weapons of mass description have played them like a freaking harp.
What they don’t know is that one morning you awoke to realize that you were a terrible person. You wanted to do something to make it up to everyone so you formulated a plan. If the US invaded Iraq because they believed Saddam Hussein had WMD and then spent billions rebuilding the country, why not simply invent a WMD arsenal, have them invade, and do your people a favor? It’s more than you ever did for them, you brutish fiend!
It’s not as if the US needs hard evidence that you possess WMD. There is the chance that they might make matters worse once you’ve fled the country and they take over. But those are risks that you’re willing to take to ensure that your people enjoy the wonderful perks of having a Starbucks on every corner, a Walmart in ever village, and a McDonalds between each of them.
Remember, what people don’t know won’t hurt them. So make sure they do know, even if you don’t have anything.
