Some Republicans are slowly starting to realise it ain't all that rosy(wakey-wakey). With about 30 attacks a day it's hard to think otherwise.

The solutions brought forward all sound a bit too simplistic to me. More Intelligence, more troops.

But the best idea comes from Trent Lott, absolutely brilliant:

“Honestly, it’s a little tougher than I thought it was going to be,” Lott said. In a sign of frustration, he offered an unorthodox military solution: “If we have to, we just mow the whole place down, see what happens. You’re dealing with insane suicide bombers who are killing our people, and we need to be very aggressive in taking them out.”

Uhm yeah see what happens... He should ask the Russians how well that works. Sounds very compassionate, for a conservative.

Yep. Mowing the whole place down has always been an option.

Instead, we choose to risk the lives of US soldiers in order to avoid civilian deaths.

The matter could have been put to a quick end with the use of tactical nukes, as far as that goes.

Doing things the "nice way" doesn't result in any less uproar than "mowing the whole place down" - a lesson I'm sure the US won't soon forget.

Get the job done and get the hell out.

Are you joking? Can you imagine the uproar if we "nuked" Iraq? I am guessing that many countries would wage war against us, including allies.

The difference is say My Lai to the Vietnam War. One people protested the other was universally condemned and viewed as a horrible act.
