How did your Senator vote?

Please note that once again, John Kerry abstained from voting on an important policy debate despite his campaign rhetoric.

Months ago he promised environmental activists he would work to increase CAFE standards and then abstained on voting when the Seante attempted to do exactly that.

The man is a spineless phoney, as if his DLC creds didn't already make that abundantly clear.

Any DLC Democrat must be a spineless phony? It couldn't be because there are some legitimate policy differences within the Democratic party?

I'll agree that there can be genuine differences, but this one is particularly spineless coming from Kerry. Note that even Lieberman, the DLC poster boy early in the race, voted "Nay."

Indeed. Some want to pander to their generous campaign contributors in the Energy industry and some don't.

That doesn't answer my question. Are all DLC Democrats spineless phonies by definition? Lieberman, Edwards, Gephardt, and Kerry, not to mention Bill and Hill?

And also note that this was a cloture vote, which requires 60 yes votes to force the question. Not voting doesn't jeopardize the blocking of this legislation - only voting "yes" on the cloture vote does.

I guess in the absence of an example of a DLC Dem who isn't spineless, I'll retain my prejudice. I usually fight against my natural prejudices, but I just can't seem to muster the energy when it comes to the DLC. They just make me tired all over.

And yes, I'm sure the fact it was merely a vote to prevent a final vote will be the Kerry campaign's official answer when questioned on the matter. When DLC politicians aren't taking the political path of least resistance on tough issues, they are usually excusing themselves on technicalities.

Maybe I'm just in a bad mood, but if feels pretty good to vent my spleen on the DLC and its puppets right now.

That energy bill os severly flawed. Upping fuel effeciency standars 5 mpg would svey more gas than even the most generous estimate of how much gas is in ANWR.

I would highly suggest ordering a Ford Excursion now to take advantage of the 45% tax write off on depreciation. (the tax break is good only for trucks over 6,000 lbs).

Google " suv tax break " to get the info on the break...I understand that congress is going to close this loophole soon though so you have to act now.

Get the diesel model..it actually gets better fuel mileage than my little 2 door Ford Explorer. (around 17 mpg..my Explorer only gets about 15).

Ford is discontinueing this model as it doesn't sell very well... I'm getting one just to annoy the wacko environmentalists.

Oh...and I've not purchased my excursion yet..if anyone b!tches about it I'm going to get the gasoline engine which only gets 12 miles per gallon versus the diesel getting 17.

Better fuel effeciency=less gas used=less gas imported from Saudi Arabia=less money for the royal family=less money for charities giving money to organizations like Al-Queda=less American deaths.

Simple.

look at it this way... there are only so many gallons of oil left in the world. the sooner we use them all up the sooner alternative fuel cars will be available that are actually something people would actually want to drive.
