Lobbyists win and privatization once again is passed off as "reform".
Problem: Skyrocketing drug costs bankrupting Medicare and burdening Seniors
Solution: Massive government handout
Yep. The Congress has missed the point once again.
So instead of actually addressing the problem of skyrocketing drug costs, the Congress decided we should give the Pharm Industry another $400 Billion (and probably a lot more) of taxpayer money.
Oh, and instead of keeping the new money in Medicare so that, as the largest buyer, it could negotiate prices with more leverage and clout, Congress decided to give the money to HMO's instead.
How did your Senator vote?
Surprise, surprise. Kerry abstains again (he's 0 for 3 now). So did Lieberman (1/3).
