vmarks is not Zimphire. I have been here long enough to know Zimphire since before he was called that. I have also been here since before vmarks became a mod (though I was not a mod at that time).

His views bear some minor similarities to Zimphire's, but they do not extend that far. You are not the first person to accuse him of such, and you are not the first person to be dead wrong.

As for Zimphire's views on Muslims, it should be noted that there is one other person on these boards who shares that view. However, that sharing is almost a coincidence, because the two could not possibly more different. I speak of benign, who was once called catsank, and in his case, it's because he sees all religious folks as savages (though he does seem to have a particular hatred for Islam, and I'm still not convinced that his hatred for 'religion' isn't really just hatred for Christianity).

There is no such thing as an unbiased person. Yes, vmarks is biased. So am I. So are you. So are all of the other moderators and users who have ever been on these boards and ever will be on these boards. It is impossible to have an unbiased moderator. That is why there are many moderators, so that each of us might cancel out the others when biases come into play. We're not perfect, of course; a perfect system of moderation would require every man, woman, and child on this planet to earnestly participate. But we have to make do with what we can get. And yes, it does suck. It sucks so much that there is only one thing that sucks even worse: everything else.

You will note that neither vmarks nor I are active moderators in the Lounge: despite the marks of our "rank", we hold no more power here than you do, and in fact are blocked from administrative functions just as you are. In my case, at least, I requested this; I don't know about vmarks, but I suspect it is the same way. I did that so that I could argue on an equal footing with the other users. There can be no fear of reprisal from me, because I am powerless to enact any kind of reprisal. The same is true of vmarks. The only people who have that kind of power here, you'll find, do not post here very often at all; they stay out of the debates.

No, those views aren't mine. People of any religion may join the military as far as I'm concerned.

Just because I don't share your biases doesn't preclude me from being an effective moderator.

Anyone could have made the request that I did. It is true that I made the request through an unusual channel, but there were other means that any user could have done. For example, the "Report Abuse" link would have been answered almost as quickly (if not more so, since it works through e-mail, rather than the post in the Moserators forum which I used).

Incidentally, I only intended for the e-mail addresses to be removed, not the entire e-mails. Either I have been misunderstood, or the moderator who deleted them decided -probably rightly, now that I think about it- that removing the whole e-mails was probably a safer bet, in the name of touching all bases.

You will note that the link to the e-mails has been left intact.

Yes, but we respect privacy. People can still read the e-mails -even you must note that the link was left intact- but without violating the privacy of the idiots who sent them.

I am, however, going to ask that your link to the original e-mail addresses be removed. Giving out a list of addresses for the explicit purpose of malicious mischief is not by any means protected speech.
