Just why is it that nearly every right-wing (and/or christian) rant is resplendent with misspellings and grammatical faux pas?

So it's my fault they can't spell? Hmm, you could be right.
Now if I could influence their voting … that'd be cool.

Perhaps because the need to lead and intellect tend to be mutually exclusive?

Perhaps it's a tendency to skip over the details in the rush for a result...?
Naw, that's reaching. Sorry.

For the same reason that nearly every left-wing (and/or atheist) rant is resplendent with misspellings and grammatical faux pas.
They're rants. By definition they can't be taken as rational or factual, whatever the subject matter may be. At best, they're of mostly comedic value with maybe a kernel or two of actual Stuff To Think About. This does not magically change depending on which side of the political fence you're on.

Spelling bad isn't near as horrible as not having
reading comprehension skills, such as you
just displayed.

Spelling badly. Poorly.
L-Y.
You're wearing your squeaky shoes
And right there taking a snooze
Is a tiger, so how do you walk on by?
Silently ... silently ... silent ... L-Y
You're a secret agent man
Who's after the secret plan
How do you act so they don't know you're as spy?
Normally ... normally ... normal ... L-Y
At an eating contest you boast
That you can eat the most
How do you down your fiftieth piece of pie?
Eagerly ... eagerly ... eager ... L-Y
On the lake your boat upset
And your clothes got soaking wet
How do you stand and wait for them to dry?
D-d-d-d-d patiently ... d-d-d-d-d patiently ... patient ... L-Y
In the public library
You fall and you hurt your knee
But the sign says "quiet please," so how can you cry?
Quietly .... quietly .... quiet ... L-Y
As you walk along the street
A porcupine you meet
How do you shake his hand when he says hi?
Carefully ... carefully .... careful ... L-Y
You enter a very dark room
And sitting there in the gloom
Is Dracula! Now how do you say goodbye?
Immediately ... immediately ... immediate ... L-Y
Bye Bye!

If this post is in the Lounge forum, it is likely to be my own opinion, and not representative of the position of MacNN.com.

"Spelling badly isn't nearly as horrible..."
Or you could say "bad spelling".

And, your reading comprehension needs work
as well.
Have you seen a forest lately?
You spend so much time looking at the
trees you've missed the forest!

My reading comprehension skills are quite good, thank you. I am, in fact, in my 40th year of building up a sustantial personal library.
However, I can't comprehend you if you can't articulate yourself comprehensibly. That's one of the many reasons why, contrary to Kindbud's beliefs, words are powerful and important.

As much as I cringe at poor spelling and grammar, we all live in glass houses on that account when it comes to typing out rants.
I think this is a non-issue.

In some respects, I agree. However, we all have access to the Edit function, spellcheckers, dictionary sites, thesauri, etc., and I myself tend to take people in the Pol Lounge much more seriously if it is obvious that they have taken the time and care to express their views lucidly. A certain degree of eloquence is always appreciated by me, no matter the opinion being expressed.
It's the posters' choice.
Swrate is the exception, as I consider him something of a free verse poet.

True, but it's the responsibility of the speaker to present in as clear a manner as possible. "Good enough" is no excuse. Everyone here understands what you said, but the fact that you don't care enough to even present it properly is really telling.

No, it's because school policy has been controlled by Democrats for the past 100 years. Why should we expect folks to be able to spell? Moreover, pointing out someone's inability to spell is probably a sexist, racist, wealthist, or age-ist remark.
Folks can't spell nowadays because 1) they've been spoiled by MS Word's spellchecker, and 2) schools spend all their time teaching us how to "just get along."
Plus, folks don't EXPECT Lefties to be able to spell, or maybe they don't have time away from the Revolution to check their work. It's not important that folks on the Left spell since they're working for "the Cause" and/or "the children" or "the little guy."
Next, we need to have a thread about how those effing wops and frogs can't spell. Maybe a thread about other ethnic groups. Stereotyping "republicans and christians" is no better than using ethnic slurs, or referring to someone as "the help."

Including ebonix in school curriculum didn't
help any either. I wonder who allowed that
to happen?
