We'll see how much you're cheering when towns across the nation start handing out guns to everybody in mid-April.

spacefreak implies, Lerk, that
(1) If gay marriage is a civil rights issue, then so is gun ownership
(2) if gay marriage should be fought for by civil disobedience, then so should gun ownership
(3) the present prohibition on any gay marriage whatsoever is equivalent to strictures like the waiting period, the ban on gun ownership by felons, or the restriction of assault weapons
(4) the threat to public safety and welfare from a loving couple getting married is equivalent to the threat to public safety and welfare from felons holding machine guns
(1) and (2) aren't too bad. But the argument kinda falls apart at (3) and (4), dontcha think?

hmmm... I wasn't sure...it almost sounded like:
(5) people are going to start shooting gays for trying to get married, in April, as opposed to June when the heteros get married...or
(6) There will be more gay shotgun weddings, or
(7) They will start handing out free handguns in a bizarre income tax rebate program.

If mayors can break the law and hand out marriage certificates to gay couples, surely there would be no problem handing out arms that are people's right to bear.

Yeah. Nice talk. But there's not a heck of a lot you can do about it, stewing in your own hate, far away in the garden state. Darn, what a shame.
Oh, and some of 'those people' (you know, those nasty gays) happen to be well armed... so maybe it would be a good idea to bolt your door?

Why do people insist on ignoring the fact hat no one is harmed or even potentially harmed by gay marriage? This makes it qualitatively different from pedophilia, beastiality, rape, and even gun ownership. Sure the constitution guarantees us all the right to have a gun (let's not argue this point right now), but there is an obvious potential harm to handing out guns to anyone who wants them. There is no harm whatsoever in handing out marriages to any same-sex couples of legal age who want them.
Edit:
And, for the record, I support gun ownership as much as I do gay marriage. But they are still very different issues, even if they both have their roots in freedom and/or the constitution.

Since you're writing about the Pink Pistols, you may as well link to their website.
http://pinkpistols.org/
And since we're talking about that, you should also know that they rated me, giving me 100% on their test, showing their support for my candidacy for North Carolina State House in 2001.
http://www.pinkpistols.com/answers2001/answers.html
Scroll down to NC, you can read the questions of the survey and my responses.

because it blows a hole through their ideology the size of rush limbaugh's a$$. it's all about moral relativism and freedom, as long as "they" get to argue from a position of power. but as soon as the tables turn, they grab their guns, man the trailer homes and head for the hills of montana.

I'm not gay. I just support their rights. I also own a gun, that is locked up in the garage (with lots of locks--for the kids). Your black and white **** doesn't work with me. I'm all over the ****ing political map. A socialist with liberterian leanings.
