A spokesman for Kerry said he believed the Web site was struck by ``a virus'' yesterday. He then promised to get back to us with a better story, but never did.

Virus my bleeping a$$ I doubt the quotes from the Rolling stone article are the result of a virus as well I assume.

Yes, and the virus starts at Kerry's mouth.

He should get that taken care of.

I care less about his usage of profanity. It's when he uses it, and it gets put on his web page, THEN when he gets flack, he takes it down and claims VIRUS!

That is what I am complaining about.

1) If you "care less" about his use of profanity, you wouldn't have said "The virus starts with Kerry's mouth. He should get that taken care of." Strike one.

2) The offending language has not been taken down. Strike two.

It would appear that his spokesman was either (a) joking or (b) misunderstood the nature of the question and came up with a quick dodge or (c) understood the nature of the question and came up with a quick dodge. Spokespeople are like that.

I would remain calm.

Yeah! That is exactly what I was thinking too.

So, it will play out like that?

1- Mouth Malfunction
2- You heard me wrong
3- I'm sorry
4- repeat offense
5- If offense < 3 Goto 1 else end

You didn't understand what I meant by that. The virus was really his mouth. I was not saying anything about what he had to say.

"A spokesman for Kerry said he believed the Web site was struck by ``a virus'' yesterday. He then promised to get back to us with a better story, but never did."

As if they were trying to blame the cuss words on a virus.

Who said it was taken down?

I thought you meant in the article. I was assuming he would take it down to avoid embarrassment.

That would only still be strike one.

I was teasing. I think the point is that perhaps people are making a bit much of this. And yes, people on both sides do it and yes, spokespeople tend to say dumb things.

If you don't get it, its usually wisest to not comment and expose yourself.

[hint]: its not about overuse of profanity, but rather sarcasm at the expense of people who consider profanity in politics to be a matter of great concern.

Yes, we covered that in a previous thread, but some continue to whine and feign offense at Kerry's language/virus/whatever. 100% silly.
