Good to see this, the new Spanish Governemtn will pull out of the 'Disaster that is Iraq'.
The new Prime Minsiter said this, "Wars such as those which have occurred in Iraq only allow hatred, violence and terror to proliferate," Mr Zapatero said."
I wonder how much of this has to do with the bombings in Madrid, or if it's a long held feeling. I remember before the bombings, most Spaniard shated the idea of goign int ot Iraq, they had some of the most anti-war demonstrations in the world.
It was also funny to see how some of the foreign media in the lead up to Sunday's election showing Spanish anti-terrorism demonstrations, would incorrectly translate the banners and the speaches of those tlaking. They weren't just angry at the terrorism acts, but they were vocally demonstrating agsint the invasion of Iraq, why their troosp were there for a war they thought was illegal, and unjust.
Looks like the coalition of the willing, is now becoming the coalition of the dumbasses.

I disagree. Irak NOW needs a coalition and some peacekeeping, more than it ever has. I understand that the Spanish people was opposed to the war in the first place (for all the good reasons too), but withdrawing their troops now will not solve anything.
It is right that they chose to replace their PM, because Aznar betrayed them, but they should now look at the bigger picture, and instead work with other countries and the UN to make sure Irak does not become a bigger mess.

By the end of June there will be a UN SC ratified resolution that will relieve the 'coalition' from Iraq peacekeeping.
Mark my words.

The majority of Spaniards opposed the war in Iraq. Government ignores and loses next election.
Democracy works, Spain is pulling out of Iraq.

Terrorism has won.
It is sad that now the Kerry campaign just has to hope for a terrorist act to win.
Makes one wonder.
This is a sad day for the world... and for freedom.

When I think back
On all the crap I learned in high school
It's a wonder
I can think at all
And though my lack of edu---cation
Hasn't hurt me none
I can read the writing on the wall
Kodachrome
They give us those nice bright colors
They give us the greens of summers
Makes you think all the world's a sunny day, Oh yeah
I got a Nikon camera
I love to take a photograph
So mama don't take my Kodachrome away
If you took all the girls I knew
When I was single
And brought them all together for one night
I know they'd never match
my sweet imagination
And everything looks worse in black and white
Kodachrome
They give us those nice bright colors
They give us the greens of summers
Makes you think all the world's a sunny day, Oh yeah

I love to take a photograph
So mama don't take my Kodachrome away

Careful now, spouting off like that about how a democracy works. You know the one TRUE democracy is the one we have here in the States where the politicians always listen to what the populace has to say. NOT!!!
Kinda funny how everyone is saying al Queda has won when in fact the democratic process is what has won. The people had their say at the ballot box and made a change in government. I wish it worked that way here.

One should never stop striving for clarity of thought and precision of expression.
I would prefer my humanity sullied with the tarnish of science rather than the gloss of religion.

But, I know you and your leftist friends were and are hoping this whole expedition turns out for the worst so you can dance around the Maypole flag in your earth friendly hempware and proclaim yourselves "lovers of humanity.
The irony.

Best title:
Spain haven't been a superpower since colonial times, their current irrelevance continues.
Did anyone think that Iraq was going to be an easier task because Spain got involved?
Maybe they could have thrown a big Carnival to cheer everyone up. Seriously, they sent in what 1500 troops maybe? That was a token political gesture to please the US while not getting overly involved. Unless another country poured in real amounts of troops and money the situation in Iraq was never really going to be greatly effected.

The fact is, both won. Al-Qaeda has managed to make the people afraid to fight them, and the people have responded by ending their hunt. A victory for both sides.

Yes yes we all know the US was quite capable of invading Iraq all by themselves. We don't care.
The US needed Spain because it had to justify the Iraq war to the people at home. Like they needed Australia and the UK. The support was more important than the army those countries could bring into the mess that is the Iraqi campaign. We also know that.

.. with popcorn and Pepsi in hand. Count on it! The US Presidential election is one of the few television events that I go out of my way to watch. Great entertainment value!
Unless of course you guys pull a 1984 election - boy was THAT one boring! (zzz)
Something like the 2000 election would be preferable but this time with a happy ending.

These terrorist don't want the US out of Iraq.
These terrorists wants everyone that doesn't think like them dead.
Terrorism only wins when everyone not like them is dead.
There is no reasoning with them. They are violent animals.

Not being dramatic voodoo. Just speaking the truth. These are barbaric animals that want to kill everyone that doesn't believe in their way of life.
They don't want peace. They don't want an agreement. Even if the US pulls out of Israel it will STILL be happening.
They wont be happy till they have all the words blood on their hands.
Vile creatures.

not really.
Spain will fight terrorism (incl. AQ) with even more force - while they aren't wasting resources by having troops in Iraq.
Now it is no. 1 grade A high priority to fight AQ and it's ilk. Not just in Spain but in all of EU.

Nonono! Newman's Own! Orville Redenbacher is so mediocre
I also use Apple computers, eat lots of Chiquita and Dole fruits, Cocoa puffs etc etc.
Then again I consume plenty of Nesquick, Grandiosa, Blue Castello, Spanish wines.. I buy Sony, Philips and Kenwood.
I drink african coffee and use a Swedish/Japanese phone.
I think I should get more letters of appreciation than just from the American capitalists (thanks for the kind words though, touching)

The concept of a "Christian Warrior" is an interesting one. Jesus (you know, that guy that Christians believe in and follow) said to love your enemy. This isn't exactly a recipe for warriors.

For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? Tell Jesus that I did exactly what he said to do. Yeah, that'll piss him off something fierce... Seems to me that the wicked would be those who didn't follow his teachings. So anyone who didn't love their enemies would have something to fear, not me.

I think you are with me on that AQ must be completely deluded then if they regard all people that aren't Muslims to be Christian Warriors, right?
Good, then we can establish that they have to be wiped out. Good, glad you're with me on that.
But we are talking about people. Doesn't that bother you? People that have a mother and father. Perhaps a pet called Squeeky. A name a history and a true conviction in their religion. These people believe in their culture and their God and they will die to protect it. They are disciplined and true in their beliefs, albeit rather simple minded.
Don't you have some compassion in your heart for them?

Oh, you can have love for you enemies and not support or tolerate their actions.
Again, did Jesus not physically throw out the merchants at the temple? Yes of course he did.
Under your reasoning he shouldn't have!
Me thinks you did not understand the message behind what Jesus was teaching.
Not that you really care.

Well Zimphire if you really think that the AQ terrorist don't have to be wiped out -- what would you suggest we do to them?

I could take Sean Connery in a fight... I could definitely take him.

They don't have to be. They can CHOOSE to stop. That choice is on them. They make their bed, they have to lay in it.

Again, did Jesus not physically throw out the merchants at the temple? Yes of course he did.
Well he was only human.
Under your reasoning he shouldn't have!
Under his as well.
Me thinks you did not understand the message behind what Jesus was teaching.
Not that you really care.
I do care. In my opinion Jesus was a great teacher who had a lot of wonderful things to teach. I also just happen to think that he shaped his message to fit his audience. If you want to convince a bunch of Jews that their religion is out-dated you do it by claiming your beliefs are an extension of theirs and passed down from their same God. Just because I don't believe in God and don't think that Jesus was His son, I can't see value in Jesus' message?

So if they don't stop they will have to be wiped out? Right?
