Which do you think will be the hot-button issue for the upcoming election? Just a week ago, every other thread here was about gay marriage-this or gay marriage-that, but they've all but vanished since 3/11. Will gay marriage resurface and become a key item this November, or is it over with?

maybe it's because i don't understand why anyone's upset about gay marriage but i don't see how it can be more important than something that involves people dying. but those that love the jesus seem to be pretty pissed about it so who knows. i'd still like to know why.

Maybe they're confused and think that gay marriage means everyone has to marry the same sex.

Well, according to a CBS poll (found here):

CBS News Poll. Feb. 24-27, 2004. N=1,294 registered voters nationwide. MoE ± 3.

What like to hear the candidates for president discuss during the 2004 presidential campaign?"

Economy and jobs - 25%
War in Iraq/Foreign policy - 13%
Health care/Medicare - 13%
Social Security - 5%
Education - 4%
Same-Sex Marriage 4%
Other - 21%
Don't know - 15%

Although that was a while ago, I don't think it's changed much.
