The EU has something to answer for, here. I certainly hope its citizens will be up in arms over what this means.

Have you instantly nullified your thread by calling the Belgian police to the Gestapo?

"The police said I was lucky I wasn't in Burma or central Africa, where journalists get the real treatment," he added.

Have the Belgian police instantly nullified their value as a law enforcement organization by behaving like the Gestapo?

First of all, the Gestapo thing is not funny. Not even applicable.

Secondly, any union that names its anti-fraud section OLAF is headed for trouble.

Thirdly, if what's in that article is true, that truly sucks! Looks like they'll have to shut down another anti-fraud section for fraud and open another one... maybe this time they should actually change the people as well, instead of just the name...

from the article:
"The police said I was lucky I wasn't in Burma or central Africa, where journalists get the real treatment," he added
Isn't that the exact reasoning that Spliffdaddy espoused in this thread ?

HAHA, so rather than face the issue you're going to bring up another man's opinion from another thread about another topic?

It'll be less funny if the EU hierarchy gets away with it and starts sending the goon squad after any reporter that dares write something negative about them. So much fervor over what's going on in the US that perhaps the transgressions in Europe's own front yard are being overlooked.. or ignored.

I'm not buying into your analogy. I find it puerile and inflammatory. I was merely pointing out that you equated the Belgian police with the Nazis in your thread title, thereby invoking Godwin's Law before the discussion had even begun. The statement of the police quoted in the article put me in mind of Spliffdaddy's redirection of criticism of alleged U.S. military police abuses in Iraq.

I will hold my opinion on this news until more facts come out and/or I know more about it.

I do make it a habit - and I don't see a need for you to be insulting.
