Strange, but someone mentioned this last spring, and I noticed this, at least in midtown.

Since 9/11, perhaps because of tougher immigration, or perhaps on part of the taxi's... but there's more and more older white men driving. Still the majority are middle eastern, but it's clearly shifting rather rapidly.

I'd say nuke him.. what's to loose?

Yes, we do. They're called SADMs: Special Atomic Demolition Munitions. They weigh between 80 and 120 lbs and can be carried in a backpack like you see all around colleges and highschools. Nominal yeild is from 0.1 to 1.0 Kiloton depending on how much Tritium enrichment is dialed in. They're designed to collapse mountain passes, caves, and to destroy large arms caches or hazardous material dumps. We can now deliver the warheads in 155mm Howitzer artillery shells with pinpoint accuracy so the man-portable version has limited applications.

It has been suggested that during the cold war, Special Forces teams seeded these mini-nukes along the routes that would be used by a Soviet armored advance on western Europe. The thought was to deny the Russians the best routes to get their tanks into western Europe fast. The book on fighting the Sovs in Europe said the only way to deal with their vastly superior numbers in tanks and armored vehicles was to use tactical nuclear weapons - fry 'em in their cans as they advanced. The Russians knew this and determined the only way to survive was to close with the western European forces too quick to allow the nuking. They needed to make it a face-to-face, tank vs. tank slugfest that they would win by virtue of superior numbers. Threre is a very limited number of possible routes for armored columns to travel over land into the west from the Soviet sattelite states, so if we denied them those routes any armored advance would stall and fail. Supposedly these SADMs were planted in Poland, Czeckoslovakia, and other "red" countries, armed with remote detonation trigger, and left for such a time as needed.

The SF team would HALO jump into the country of choice (with a 120 lb. nuke strapped to one team member!), move over land to the objective site, plant and arm the weapon, and exfiltrate to a freindly country for extraction. Or so I'm told.

I think you'll find most snipers (like those at HRT) use something like the Remington Model 710 and use something with a bit more power than trank darts.

Remember - anything worth shooting is worth shooting twice!
