There are really only two choices. Rich White Guy 1 or Rich White Guy 2.

Bush is for everything I'm against -> he's an idiot -> he shouldn't drive the country for another 4 years.

Kerry just says whatever he can to please everyone so that he will get elected -> he's an idiot -> he shouldn't drive the country at all.

Voting for anyone else will just be a waste of a vote.

What can I do? What is there for me to do when everyone else seems to want something else for the country they live in? Well, for one, I'm leaving the country in a year, not for political reasons, mind you, just as part of post-graduation plans. However, I'm hoping some outside exposure will help me think more clearly on this.

In other words, the current state of this country is sad and I don't know what I can do to make it better.

Figure out which one sucks less for you then vote for them.
Your vote counts. If you don't like the two main candidates,
then vote 3rd party or write-in.

It's important. Take part in it.

Suggestions for you to make a difference:

- Leave, get some perspective for yourself.
- Run for local office and do something locally. Change what you can.

Oh, and come back alive.

Your post makes a lot of sense except this one bit. Is the world such a scary place to you? I don't plan to visit the war zone if that's what you thought.

As for running for office, it's not for me. I'm no politician, nor do I want to be. And it's not that there aren't people out there I wouldn't vote for, but without the Democrat or Republican party support, they just won't be popular enough to make it into the big office.

Don't stress it. Your 'electoral representative' will take care of the actual vote for you.

BTW: If John Kerry *would* win, wouldn't he be the first US president that actually served and participated as a combatant in Vietnam? That'd be kinda cool!

For better or for worse -and probably both, if the truth be known- Kerry is nothing more than another Clinton. Bush, meanwhile, is Bush; I don't think further explanation needs to be given.

Either way, it's 1992 all over again. Funny how history repeats itseld.
You are in Soviet Russia. It is dark. Grue is likely to be eaten by YOU!

I think that's supposed to happen over a longer period of time, isn't it? Besides, in 1992, I was a blissful ignorant 5th grader. But if voting for Kerry will get us a another internet, I guess he's the way to go.
