'If they are wise and they accept it, then they are saved'

http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/meast/...sts/index.html

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (CNN) -- Saudi Arabia promised Wednesday that terrorists in the kingdom will be safe if they surrender within a month -- but after that they will face forceful consequences.

"We are announcing for the last time that we are opening the door to repentance and for those to return to righteousness," said Crown Prince Abdullah in a televised address.

I'll go on record as saying that *zero* terrorists will surrender.

Yeah - I'm pretty sure the Saudis know that too, which highlights just what a PR scam this 'offer' really is.

"And in other news, Lando Griffin, a popular student at a local high school, was killed last night when his motorcycle careened off Dead Man's Curve. Police were baffled when no body was found at the scene, but they decided it was best not to ask questions and just let everyone get on with their lives."

Yup, it took a while for the U.S. to get involved but they finally joined the fight.

Wrong.
RIYADH : Saudi authorities announced that a militant had surrendered, the first reported case since they extended an olive branch to Al-Qaeda sympathizers in an apparent bid to sap support for the terror group.

The interior ministry said a citizen "wanted in a security-related case" had turned himself in "a few hours" after King Fahd offered an amnesty Wednesday to terror suspects who surrender within a month.
Maybe he wasn't a terrorist.

Uh, this does mean the Saudi government is going to stop paying protection money to militant fundamentalist groups?

So Saudi Arabia is giving terrorists and entire month to give up. And if/when they do, they're forgiven for killing thousands of people.

Yeah, come down hard on those terrorists. Make think twice about killing someone.

No, but currently the ones from radical Islamic sects are causing most of the trouble. We've got 'em on the Christian side too, but they aren't blowing themselves up along with a dozen civilians at the moment.

Edit: of course, that skirts the whole USA/Israel/Palestine thing...

This is completely typical of Saudi Arabia's half-hearted attempts to suppress terrorism. Allowing terrorists to surrender to "return to righteousness"?! We should have invaded Saudi Arabia, not Iraq.

Ya I don't trust Saudi Arabia. There are nations in the region which did harbor and support terrosists, such as Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, that need to be smacked around.

They didn't say the terrorists would be forgiven if they turned themselves in. They only promised not to impose the death penalty.

There might be one or two insignificant terrorists who give themselves up, but the most dangerous, radical ones will surely not. I would not bet any money on that. They feel that they are on a mission from allah, and they will hardly abandon their primitive, sick beliefs inorder to join the more moderate side, if one can call the majority of Suadi Arabians "moderate". It's almost like asking somebody to convert, and obviously many religious fanatics would rather die than give up or compromise on their beliefs.

So, this 30 day amnesty is a silly idea, that will only delay the inevitable, and that is the hunting down and killing/capture of these brainwashed goons.

I thought it was obvious.

Saudi Arabia is about to do some terrorist killing.

In order to not look so hardcore, they kindly offered an easy way out for their intended victims.

It's an offer of mercy...just before the hammer falls. Reckon the terrorists can't cop a plea after 30 days.

Fair enuff.
