Following the formal handover of sovereignty to Baghdad, 15 Iraqi and Iraqi-American groups have issued an open letter to the American people, thanking them for the sacrifices they endured to liberate their country.

"As Iraqis assume full sovereignty over our nation, we extend our hands in friendship and gratitude to the American people.

"The sacrifices your sons and daughters made for our liberation will never be forgotten. Without those brave young men and women, this day might never have come."
"Evil is Powerless If the Good are Unafraid." -Ronald Reagan

I know it's hard to believe eklipse, you know since they all hate us and want us gone.

The Iraq-America Freedom Alliance (IAFA) is a coalition of Americans and Iraqis committed to fostering goodwill between our nations and winning the war on terror. IAFA will provide Americans a fuller picture of Iraq and give voice to some of the many Iraqis grateful for their newfound freedom.

Yeah, I read that blurb too - thing is, the IAFA is an American organization that branched away from another American organization, all the members of the alliance listed on their site are also based in America (near as I can tell).

I think they should also thank the US that they installed the Baath-party and Saddam Hussein in the first place, they should also thank for the deliverements of the WMD's with which Hussein could gas them, they should also thank the US that they convinced Hussein to lead war against Iran, and also for the US-deliverements of weapons for both sides in that war, so that Iraq and Iran could have a real nice and long war, and they should also thank the US for the 12 years of UN-embargo, and the daily bombardments in the no-fly-zones, and they should also thank the US for this war, and for the military-bases the US builds and mans in their country, that will even be there when Iraq is souvereign and elections held, at least until Iran is defeated..

What would the iraqis have done without the good old uncle sam, they would have just bored themselves to death..

its all just politics....correct thing to do; just like when one politician openent congradulates another. Doesn't mean anything.

1. When that happened, Saddam was the lesser of two evils with Iran.
2. Bubba bombed them.
3. Trying to be cute is not cute.
4. We got rid of him, it's over with.
5. This is what the warmongers got rid of:
The innocent Saddam.

Politics aside, I think that's touching and admirable. I live in a metro area with a lot of Iraqis and while they've been ambivalent about the occupation, by and large they're very grateful to see Saddam gone. I hope the Iraqi people, as a group, develop the ability to combat tyranny and extremism on their own, and that (for once) the West can assist rather than hinder. It will be quite an experiment and I hope it works out.

As do I. I hope the Middle East is freed from the tyrannical theocracies that rule it. And pacifism does not, will not, and refuses, to let that happen.

glory be.

you're right.

There aren't any real Iraqis that appreciate our sacrifices.

It's like you've been telling us all along...the Iraqis really aren't worth the effort.

Finally. I see your point.

They have bases in those states. They also have bases in Iraq, run by Iraqis.

This is what is called working together.
