Personally, that's mildly funny. However, I think any time a politician misspeaks or has a stupid looking picture, I think it's pointless. Those people pic out pictures so they make the "unfavored" look stupid.

The exception is the Kerry with the Phily cheese steak. Swiss cheese!? Nibles!?
COME ON. You can do better than that.

Okay, here's another exception.
Saw all the pics on drudge. Wow. Acting like a country boy…a liberal senator from Mass acting like a redneck.
I hear a Jeff Foxoworthy coming on.
You know you're a redneck when rich Bostonians act like you're one of the guys from the Dukes of Hazard.

Its like Al Gore acting like a Baptist in the South. Or Hilary saying "this is the day the lord has brought."
Pandering.

No definitions found for "bely", perhaps you mean:
Belie \Be*lie"\, v. t. [imp. & p. p. Belied; p. pr. & vb. n.
Belying.] [OE. bilien, bili?en, AS. bele['o]gan; pref. be-
+ le['o]gan to lie. See Lie, n.]
1. To show to be false; to convict of, or charge with,
falsehood.

After Kerry went to go take a dump in the corn field, he became lost and the locals had to organize a search party to go get him.

When asked to comment, the Presidential hopeful simply replied, "Don't worry folks, I voted for using my socks, before I voted against it."

Kerry voted for the puppy before he opposed it:

George Bush voted to execute the puppy. In his new job, he voted to put the puppy in lockup indefinately.

F***ing puppy.

LOL. Way to smack Spheric down!

For clarification, is it French people or the French language that you "hate"?

That picture is amusing -- the M-16 set to semi and all. But mainly it just tells us what we knew. Gore was a REMF. Big deal.

I could be wrong because I know jack about guns but it doesn't even look like it is loaded. Where is the clip thingy?

M-16s use magazines, not clips, but yes, you are right -- sort of. There is no magazine in there, but there could be a round in the chamber. A basic principle of gun safety is always to assume that there is a round in the chamber. However, this can be taken to extremes. In practice, at least in the Army, once the weapon has been cleared, it is dealt with as an unloaded weapon. Soldiers become familar enough with them that they are handled fairly casually. That's what happens when guns go from being a hobby to being the tools of a professional.

Gore's weapon is set to semi automatic, which is more disturbing. It should be set to safe any time it is out of the arms room, and not doing so is sloppy. Where he has it pointed isn't so much of a problem. It looks to me like he is adjusting the sling for stack arms. Stack arms is a way of setting three weapons so they kind of stand up by themselves. That's not something you do in a tactical situation and his stance is pretty common. Setting up for stack arms is a PITA and you have to kind of fiddle with things to get them to not fall down.

You also don't walk around with a black cap on the flash supressor in a tactical situation. Nor do you walk about with no LBE to carry ammunition, and with your water way up on your baby ruck. I have no idea what Gore was doing that day, but he was a REMF and that's fine. Even REMFs serve. It makes no sense to make out that he was doing things that an infantryman on a tactical patrol wouldn't do, because he wasn't an infantryman, and I guarantee that picture wasn't taken in any kind of tactical situation. Just look how clean and spanking new everything is!

Politicians always look uncomfortable, awkward and silly during campaigns - trying to look like people they aren't.

I mean, go look at photos of ANY candidate wearing a hardhat or flipping pancakes, etc. They all look fish-out-of-water.

Like Kerry wearing a baseball hat.

I've also wondered that.

Though I wonder how Bush somehow got out of Vietnam all together.
