Saw this quote on Howard Stern :
“Naturally, the common people don’t want war, but after all, it is the leaders of a country who determine the policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a facist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. This is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in every country.”
— Herman Goering (Head of the Luftwaffe) speaking
at the Nuremberg trails after WWII

Hm, I could have sworn we were attacked on 9-11. Maybe I'm getting old...

Exactly! We were attacked by Al-Qaeda NOT Iraq. We should be focusing on hunting them down. One by one. Starting with Bin Laden.

When they already have teh nukes, it's harder to be proactive against them... at least that's what 200M Japanese keep saying.

But which is it? Were we forced into war, or did we go by choice? Or did we choose to go to war because we were forced to? My head hurts.

He'll say it, but you'll have to listen closely... he'll no doubt only say it to the SS agent.

Great idea. Why don't you be proactive and nuke the whole planet ... just in case sometime in the future one of the other sovereign-ish countries out there gets to thinking about programmes for the study of techniques for developing WMD (or what was it Bush finally accused Iraq of?).

Saddam was too busy torturing his own citizens to death. Lots to keep him busy, I'm sure.

So you've shifted position from retaliation (9/11)to being 'pro-active' (invading Iraq). LMAO. ~Tell me, what's it like standing on shifting sands to back up your arguments?
Oh, as to 9/11, I'm sure some in the Muslim world think the first strike was done by the US against Muslim nations, or Muslim groups, long before 9/11.
Lebanon
Israel
Iraq
Sudan
Iran
Bosnia
etc, etc.
First strike isn't always a plane flying into a building, but I can think of many reasons why Muslims would do that, just look at the hypocritical US policy towards Israel.
I'm sure if I was a Muslim, I'd have plenty of reasons for wanting to stand up against an entity I see as interfering in my world.

Yeah, damn those US funded chemical weapons, and WMDs supplied by the West. It was ok to do it cause, you know, he was the enemy of Iran. But shucks, soon as that Saddam dared to stand up for his rights as to Kuwait blocking his oil pipelines into the Gulf, bang, big old Bush came smashing in. Easy target since the Iran threat was minimal.
How does that work? More powerful nations can unilaterally act on threats to their national security, but lesser ones can't?
Fcuk morality, it's self-serving crap.

No, he mostly just used simple means for the torture: rape, dismemberment, electro-shock, etc. to slaughter close to 100K of his own people per year. Now, commiting this genocide against his people would be considered what kind of "self-defense"?

Why do you want to lock up the Japanese and Germans?
(We apologized for locking up American citizens of Japanese descent, by the way.)

I don't want to lock up any Japanese or Germans. I was referring more to the stupid, self defeating, no-profiling policy that is in place today.

Dude, what are you talking about? I haven't shifted on anything -- I think you have me confused with someone else. I think we should have retaliated for 9/11 and I think we should have gotten rid of Saddam. Simple. No shify sandies there, bub.

So how do you expect those nations to be fixed?
Should we wait on Iceland to handle it?
Or just ignore it all and hope it goes away?
Please explain your solution to this dilemma.

I was thinking more along the lines of Canada or Mexico. Maybe France can fix them?

Good idea! See #1.
Please explain your solution to this dilemma.
My solution is to do what we are doing. Throughout history, hasn't rule always been by the strong? We control the economy, have the largest/best military, etc. I say let us fight them all and the last people standing win.

Just leave out the slavery of a certain kind of people. Why not just make them all of the people we take over whether white, black, red, purple, green, blue, yellow, rainbow, etc...

pff. yeah, i'm sure the "south" isn't the only thing you guys are hoping for to "rise" again.
btw, iran has the potential to become one of the first real working democracies in the midlle east. that is, of course, unless the us invades and messes everything up to install a puppet govt.

Ya'll know that Iran is one of the most Westernized arab countries and most of the people love the US right? If we invade, I am guessing the people will be cheering us in the streets.
